Have you done any reading about this stuff? I'm assuming you have. Perhaps rivaled only by ancient Spartans, no other culture in the world can boast the supremely perfect approach to war as the Japanese. No matter how good, how militant, how advanced, or how civilized any other nation has ever been. I got hooked about 10 years ago, and even now i'm still awestruck sometimes.

A little bit. Not as much as I'd like. But the shear elegance of it all left me a little awestruck. Its not called The Way of the Samurai for nothing, they were their own culture.

Samurai means "to serve". EVERYTHING about them was about tradition and honor... Even more fascinating, is that most of what we know of their Way, was developed during the decline of the Samurai's role in Japanese society... The earlier writings were "about" them, instead of written "by" them... And it was a more brutal accounting... Every detail was elegant and beautiful, yet complex designs, intricate patterns, and yet an extremely simple point of view... I'm not Japanese, but man do I love that feudal culture of theirs.

Actually there is a lot of very ornate and artistic Western style weaponry.
There were rules of war during the medieval period (heck there still are but its not the same these days)
But I dig what you are saying
