You could go into more detail about how words smell and taste, but your thoughts have just been interrupted by a new text from the friend you were going to text in the first place. Your friend Dave Strider.

You don't know why your dad won't lend you his other car just to get to school or something but whenever you try to ask he just starts yelling about... you really don't know. The words kind of blur together at some point-- YOUR PHONE IS RINGING.
That ringtone. "Ghostbusters". The one he bought without asking you first and then he set it as his ringtone. John.
You fumble to get the damned thing out of your pocket as fast as you can so you can compose yourself enough to answer calmly enough without sounding like a lovestruck dork.
"Hey J--"
"KARKAT! It's almost time!"
"I'm almost home."
"Okay. Don't forget to--"
"I KNOW!"
The things you do for John.
One of these things: Helping him reenact things from his crappy movies.
Okay so this one isn't too bad, but it just proves even further that you are in the friendzone. Damn your love for the derp.
'Big', that movie from the eighties, isn't one of John's most favorites. You remember him making you watch it with him when you were eight. In the movie a young boy gets his wish to become an adult, he gets a job, stuff, bluh, and is a kid again the end. But that's not why he wanted you to watch it.
The main character in said movie is best friends with his next door neighbor, just like the two of you. Their windows face each other, just like yours do. So what does he make you do that they do?
Use walkie talkies to talk to each other from your windows.
You've done this for years now and even though you know how lame it is... it makes him happy so you do it.
