The blacksmithing equipment could be used by other ponies as well if she ever needed an iron part. Just because RD doesn't know about it doesn't mean other ponies don't. All this shows is that she can goldsmith. Having the forge on site just helps. I mean she could rent use of it also. Or yes she could do both, but rarely were "people" taught both skills back in the olde days. They were separate specialties.
