Description Wow this character has been sitting in release queue since 2014, glad she’s finally out in the wild! Zandora is an Eternal Starknight that defected from the Eternal city to fight the Guardians. Very much inspired by all the action cartoons, anime and toys I grew up with in the late 80′s/early 90′s!

i love most of the character designs in gigantic, primarily tyto, mozu, and margie, but i can't find it within myself to even remotely like zandora's design.

i have tried. i've been like, "pink is my favorite color and i like tiny feet?? right?? i can like zandora, right??" but i just can't. the idea of an eternal starknight is cool, but zandora literally looks like a rejected character design for steven universe and i can't stand that show or art style. she looks like a gem; a hyper-masculine woman with obnoxious colors and has... weird mlp hair?

i don't mean to insult you or your vision, but i find her so ugly and she clashes with the rest of the cast. i'm curious to know what was going through your mind as you were creating her?

Honestly I agree. I think her design in principle should be something I like but I just can't get myself to actually like it. I think her manly upper body gives a sort of uncanny valley effect. The triangular chest is very typical of male characters, as men tend to have more of that shape.

The sword design is dope and the overall poise of the character is sick. Awesome stuff, amigo.

P.S. On a side note, I'm getting some Robot Unicorn Attack vibes from her for some reason. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ノ

I think the sex of a character doesn't really matter... there are no quotas
Though admittedly there are more female than male in the game currently (if we don't count Tyto an Hk)

there is just one human male in the entire game.

the company definitely don´t seem to like men.

must be some of those white men hating sjw types

I'm not trying to be mean and really want to get the conversation going but here's a question:
Why are you trying to derive meaning (they don't like men) from the fact that there are more female characters?
Most games of this type (and beyond) have a more or less crushing majority of male characters (Smite, LoL, Overwatch...) and it seems to be okay with most (exceptions exist of course)
Hearing you, it's as if being male was some sort of default trait but being female, even more, if coupled with empowering traits like Zandora, was something special that necessary bare some meaning.

>Most games of this type (and beyond) have a more or less crushing majority of male characters (Smite, LoL, Overwatch...)

that not true at all. the games you listed all have a equal share of human male and female characters. but on antother note even if that were the case the crushing majority of fan and players of those gamers are male so even if what you say were true it would only make sense that those games reflect this by having a wide variety of male characters for their male super majority. you don´t see people complain about the lack of male barbie figures or male protagonist for romance novel since the number one democratic of those are female. so why should male dominated hobbies be treated any differently. unless you are just again male hating hypocrite.

>why are you trying to derive meaning (they don´t like men) from the fact that there are more female characters?

maybe because they have docents of female character (which almost all look like the same anti feminine sjw "strong wyman" type by the way) but only one male human character. it´s not really a hard stretch to see that a company that loves to exclude 50% of the humans race when it comes to creating new characters as having some serious problem with men.
I´m sure if we were to look up some of the twitter accounts of some of the devs we would quickly find several tweet talking about "what horrible sexist monsters men are" and how "women need to take over"

also we keep hearing that when ever a hobby or era is largely dominated by men (for example stem fields) that this is because of "sexism" and hatred for women so I just took the same approach to this game now.

(Kindof written in a hurry sorry)

Many domains or medias are dominated by one sex or the other. It's true and it's fine. There are tendencies that lead some demographics to be more attracted to certain things, it's a fact. And it's also true that it's not always necessary to complain about it either ways or put it on the account of sexism or whatever.
Yet I find your first point about gamers being mostly male (which is true also) to make very little sense. Concretely: why do you care if there are more female characters or gamers? What does it change for you? Does it make the experience less enjoyable? It's like saying that if the tools of men working in stem fields were to ever be painted pink they would not be able to work properly anymore or saying that chefs and professional cooks should come up with "man food" just because they are a majority of men.

There are majorities and there will always be but that shouldn't stop, hinder or shame people from doing what they are interested in and behaving as they like. I'm not saying the status quo should absolutely change just because it upsets some but I'm saying that fields shouldn't be closed to the rest of the world just because a majority has a hold on it.

Also, you seem to be very upset about SJWs which is understandable considering their methods are often accusative, shaming, and straight up counterproductive :') But not all fierce and strong looking women hate men or want to dominate the world. I get that one shouldn't see sexism, double standards, and discrimination as a whole everywhere. But they are realities and ongoing problems that can be acknowledged in various ways. And while being lectured about it in video games is questionable I cannot see why not. Media have often been political, reflecting reality, social issues and the views of the creators without always tackling these subjects and it has never bothered anyone even those who are only there "for the story".

Everyone is free to look and act as they please ranging from your basic sports loving, beer drinking, sex-obsessed dudebro to any cliché lgbt archetype and everything in between. That doesn't mean they will always try to lecture you about their identity, shove it down your throat or disregard yours. Though it's true some will and it's always the one we hear the most about but just ignore them really People are who they are but one shouldn't derive meaning from that; just be yourself and respect others.

To conclude and to get back to Gigantic, I think that at such an early stage of the game and considering it will include many other characters in the future, it's just not fair to pass Motiga for what they're not. When the game was announced, it had more male characters with the same number of male and female human characters (counting Roland) and Motiga might very well come up with a wave of all male characters with tons of human for all we know or they might not. But then again: why does it matter?

I know I wandered a bit telling you all that, and it might be off-putting to read me bragging ect (we have an adjective in French for that: rébarbatif, it's like deadly annoying, irritating almost) But I felt I needed to talk about all that to support my point... Also it helps that you're not too extreme when it comes to opinions, many would have resort to name calling at this point x) It's nice to have a constructive discussion on the internet for once.

Umptieth edit: I follow some of the artists at Motiga on social medias like Gorrem, and I can tell you they are definitely not like that
