Description “Now my sword has been broken,
One last whisper I give.
The wind crosses the brown land unheard,
A storm comes right through me.

Ancient time run softly till
I have my song. The river cries for
Empty hearts, they’ve passed away,
But I will see the light
Until I hear the sound.

Why did you leave all the memories behind?
Words of silence I heard on the way.
Our flame is the light on the grey,
Hazy shadows are hunting us,
But if you still believe,
Shades will be dancing away.

Fairytales have been spoken,
The dawn kisses thae day.
A new promise is made, don’t betray it:
Let our nature be safe.

Ancient rhyme comes softly till I
End my song of rising faith
In what we were and ever will be.
Yes, I will see the light
Until I hear the sound.

Why did you leave all the memories behind?
Words of silence are telling us lies.
Our love is the light on the grey.
Sometimes shadows could cover us,
But if we howl to life,
Shades will be dancing away.

Here is my music in words,
Here is the voice that I’ve heard.”

[ Eliot – Dama ]

Although the huge lot of material I’ve shot before delayed the pubblication, I took this photo on 4th December, which was Dama vocalist Barbara’s birthday; therefore, this is a special dedication to her.
So now, let me introduce you my first outdoors photoshoot with my 50mm lens, which features the handsome Alessio as the model (together with Giulia in some shots). I’ve had a huge lot of fun experimenting with depth of field and bokeh, so you’re going to see a lot of it.
About the photo, although the song (which is really beautiful and you can listen to here ) is inspired by the work of T. S. Eliot, I’ve never read any of his works, so I just tried to portray what the song itself inspired me. I’ve had this image in my mind since at least 2008, but never had the chance to actually shot it until last week: I needed a model like Alessio, whose expressivity and way of posing are very natural, and a set, light and colours like those I found there. As soon as I saw the brownish grassland I immediately thought of the song, and finally my idea fully came to life.
Taken in Stupinigi, Turin, Italy.
On a side note, I recommend that you listen also to this alternate version of the song. It’s quite addictive to me, even though I must say the photo was inspired by the album version.

The lighting is perfect in this one. I also like that the foreground seems to blend into the background which makes the model stand out even more. Nicely done.
