Description This was a present for my lovely mother-in-law. The photo isn't very good at all, so I tried to edit it to make it look more like the real thing.
Acrylic paint on canvas
Sorry I can't remember where I got the reference photo... I'll update once I've found it. aha.. found it 'Blood Red Peony' by Deborah Humphries. I have used artistic licence, with the perspective, I've stretched the image, and placed petals in different places, and completely ignored some etc. I hope she doesn't mind me using her gorgeous photo as inspiration.

Lovely painting, Ani.  We have a deep red peony like this just about to flower in our garden; the buds are just showing red.

Thank you   They're such beautiful flowers. Do you ever draw/ paint flowers?

Before I started drawing in 2009 I tried painting soon after I retired and did this watercolour of a Bee orchid Bee Orchid .  It was the last watercolour painting I did.  I had done just two before this - a very boring exercise of three mugs from a book, and a painting of a cup and saucer from life (also not fulfilling).
After I started drawing a couple of years later I drew one flower, in graphite pencil, but found it unchallenging Drawing of a fuchsia blossom, September 2009 .  Flowers definitely need colour, which is beyond me.
The fuchsia was a simple flower to draw but your peony must have been difficult - I would get lost amongst all those petals!
