Description This is the sword Dash uses once he's achieved his ultimate form. It is forged from mektonite crystal and is the only thing that can cut through Kai's armor.

I would write more on this but I'm super busy

Guardian Knights is © myself

Edit (2/5/2011): Why the hell did I say this is for Guardian Knights?! Dash doesn't appear in that series! I may use this design though.

Yeah swords are badass. I have one sword I'm currently designing called an "arcblade," which is the primary weapon of the Kyrdan knights who appear in my fictional universe. The arcblade's blade vibrates to boost its cutting power, and it also projects a layer of plasma on the blade's surface, which also adds to its lethality

ah. i have a blade thats sorta like a cross between a lightsaber and a usual metal sword.
it has a diamond shape on the beggining of the blade, then goes out to the standard blade.

Looks cool! It's interesting as well that you used sort of a romanesque design for a sword like a Gladius too.

Great-5 In reply to EpsilonEagle [2010-04-29 17:49:18 +0000 UTC]

yeah well my main influence was the Celtic swords, but the leaf-shaped blade is very Roman in design. I seem to draw a lot of leaf-bladed swords when I draw swords.

I personally like them as well, they're unique and you don't always see them. Katanas are cool and all, but they're a bit overused. I like arabic scimitars and broadswords like the Master Sword personally.

Great-5 In reply to EpsilonEagle [2010-04-29 17:57:32 +0000 UTC]

Dude, the Master Sword is one of the best-designed video game weapons of all time in my opinion. Really, the Master Sword was the main influence here, just I cut off the parts of the crossguard that go forward because it was a bit too bulky. The glowy parts and the gold finials come from different lightsaber designs I found on Wookieepedia (I'm a HUGE Star Wars fanboy.)

As for actual combat blades, I'm not too fond of full-length swords, I've used them and they are quite cumbersome. I am mostly a fan of short, heavy, single-edged blades, as well as of course leaf-shaped blades like the Kokiri Sword. My late dad, whose family was from Virginia, had a Southern "D-guard" bowie knife as a family heirloom...that thing was massive, and had just the kind of blade I liked. I remember chopping firewood with that thing.

Cool man. I agree, the Master Sword does indeed kick ass, as well as the Zelda series as a whole. What I meant by Broadswords were not giant Zweihanders and stuff, I was thinking more double edged swords like the Master Sword, medium sized ones. You need a HUGE amount of strength to wield a Zweihander properly, hence German knights who used them were usually really big, scary people.

Great-5 In reply to EpsilonEagle [2010-04-29 18:09:10 +0000 UTC]

totally. I also think giant anime swords look really awesome, like Cloud's Buster Sword or the Tetsaiga from Inuyasha, but they're not practical in real life at all, unless they're made out of a super-light, nonexistent metal alloy.

EpsilonEagle In reply to Great-5 [2010-04-29 18:17:14 +0000 UTC]

Or if the wielder was superhuman. In Inuyasha's case it's understandable since he's a demon with superior strength to a human's (I guess). Cloud? I'm not sure, he was a member of Soldier and it seems to be implied that they're superhuman, so maybe super strength is one of his abilities, or maybe it's just a game and they wanted to give him a really big sword?

Great-5 In reply to EpsilonEagle [2010-04-29 19:03:28 +0000 UTC]

so I'm debating whether or not to make Dash's sword ginormous.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EpsilonEagle In reply to Great-5 [2010-04-29 19:51:59 +0000 UTC]

Well, a smaller sword would better emphasize speed and agility, while a huge one would be used for smashing multiple enemies at a time and generally causing mass destruction.

Great-5 In reply to EpsilonEagle [2010-04-29 22:21:10 +0000 UTC]

Well my criteria is "what would my ideal weapon be for going on a murderous rampage against everyone who pisses me off?"

I know it's sociopathic, but it's an effective way to design weapons and armor.

I was also thinking he gets a superpowered arm for holding/wielding his sword, but I dunno about that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EpsilonEagle In reply to Great-5 [2010-04-29 22:28:23 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, that sounds like a pretty cool idea. Maybe his arm becomes all superpowered and allows him to wield a giant sword like that as easily as Cloud wields the Buster Sword, that would certainly make the transformation pretty rewarding and awesome.

Great-5 In reply to EpsilonEagle [2010-04-29 22:51:24 +0000 UTC]

though kind of the point is Dash's form is not as spectacular as Kai's form, thus more "realistic" and "Western" as opposed to Kai's rapid, DBZ-esque transformations...though in my series every character has a reason for how their powers work, either through physics or unexplained spiritual powers, which control and bend the rules of physics.

Dash, for instance, possibly cannot transform rapidly and spectacularly, as he needs hours, day even, of focus in order to achieve his ultimate form, and even then his and Kai's armor doesn't just "form" like in s-CRY-ed, it is actually specially-designed "spirit armor" which bonds to the user's body and channels his/her Iluric energy.

So what would take seconds in a show like DBZ or s-CRY-ed, takes many hours in my series.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

EpsilonEagle In reply to Great-5 [2010-04-29 22:53:51 +0000 UTC]

Ah, makes sense actually, I imagine that achieving your ultimate form wouldn't be something you can turn on and off like a light switch. I never knew about that fact.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Great-5 In reply to EpsilonEagle [2010-04-29 22:59:08 +0000 UTC]

and the only reason Kai appears to be able to do that is because his powers are chaotic and uncontained, based around brute force and using any means necessary to defeat the bad guys, unlike the rival hero Dash who focuses to control his power.
