I'd somehow prefer to see the entire photograph in those sepiatones.

thanks for your critic.

Yeah, both are much better. Which one doesn't matter I think, colors are just a personal taste anyway. I'd prefer the blueish one though, better fits the already kinda cold atmosphere.

you're telling me this is only one shot?

I thought is was a stitching of two of them! (an IR and a regular one)

anyway it looks beautiful and original to me.
great job!

greyfin In reply to nasht-01 [2006-03-29 07:28:03 +0000 UTC]

it does look manipulated, but it isn't. (well except for the gradient)
that's simply the suns last reays touching the upper party of the trees. ir reacts more strongly to that than normal exposure.

Very dramatic. Like the color gradient of the sky. It really stages the trees.

I love the colors! What kind of trees are those?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

greyfin In reply to Captain-Planet [2006-03-29 12:18:10 +0000 UTC]

not sure, maybe ash trees. but it was hard to tell without leaves and standing near a road they were cut so often... that's why you were implying with that question? their form is not natural, it's just the cutting that made them so ghost-like.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Captain-Planet In reply to greyfin [2006-03-29 13:42:07 +0000 UTC]

Oh that's interesting, I was going to guess some kind of Oak tree. I can see what you mean about the cuttings, i think I missed that at first. Its very cool whatever tree it is.

wow From shadow to white, totally amazing! Was it very dark?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

greyfin In reply to mercyop [2006-03-28 11:10:17 +0000 UTC]

no, just before sunset, but the ir filter needs much light. sun was just touching the tops of the trees - which appear white due to said filter.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mercyop In reply to greyfin [2006-03-28 11:31:46 +0000 UTC]

It's a great photo, by far the best IR photo in your gallery (my opinion)!

Still a little grainy, but much less than in the others
I'll test out IR filter soon for sure!

thank you so much for your kind words. i like it, too. but colour contrasts are a bit too intensive for my tastes. i won't change anymore, but give it a few days and i will get sick of it
