Yeah, both are much better. Which one doesn't matter I think, colors are just a personal taste anyway. I'd prefer the blueish one though, better fits the already kinda cold atmosphere.

it does look manipulated, but it isn't. (well except for the gradient)
that's simply the suns last reays touching the upper party of the trees. ir reacts more strongly to that than normal exposure.

not sure, maybe ash trees. but it was hard to tell without leaves and standing near a road they were cut so often... that's why you were implying with that question? their form is not natural, it's just the cutting that made them so ghost-like.

no, just before sunset, but the ir filter needs much light. sun was just touching the tops of the trees - which appear white due to said filter.
