"have to take off or disable the infrared filter on the ccd?" <- huh???

i don't know if i understoof right, so i'll try to explain the basics: digital infrared ist different to analogue techniques. the ir-filter (i'm using hoya r72) is a simple glass filter that you put in front of your lens. depending of your camera autofocus may not work because the filter is so dark. you also have to aim "blindly" at your subject - or choose your subject without the filter and THEN mount the ir-filter.
exposure (depending on your camera and surrounding light) is between 1/20 and 16 seconds.

so do you have to take off or disable the infrared filter on the ccd? i've been trying to do some reading up on it and am a bit confused. i only tried to shoot film infra red once and i completely messed it up and nothing came out.
