Description OK so I woke up today because a soundtrack was playing on my laptop and I did not leave anything on when I went to bed. Apparently my pillow fell from my top bed and onto the mouse clicking hte song on. I walk down and turn it off, and walk back up because I was still tired and I lay down deciding not to take the earplugs back on. GOOD THING because I hear this buzzing, and this poor fella was in my bed unable to fly to well, so I took it down and gave it some sugary water it drank, and let it back outsideΒ

xD its like my pillow was like D8< tina get up get uuupp or youll get stung.

8D if you look closely at the picture, its still noming on water.

Thanks! I was really lucky with it being completely wind still, super sunlight and that it was regenerating energy

thank you!

i actually have a similar story, there is a little mini roof over my front steps and right by the door is a huge family of paper wasps who just kinda chill and coexist like brosΒ very creatively i named the wasp who began the nest Waspy
there's even a little new nest being started closer to the door

I know that's not a bee. It's a Yellow Jacket (we've got tons of them around here), I was simply saying that i also like bees Thanks for the correction though

I hate those things too. tons of them around and they always love sweets or paint. Last time one got me it just flew into my chin and bounced off. Didn't sting

Wooah for real? That's so scary! If I was in a situation where a BEE was in my bed I would freak. OUT. XD

Oh and I have a question, whenever you're taking beautiful photos of insects, do u literally go up to them and take pictures or from far away and zoom in with high quality?

Your much nicer to them than I am. There are multiple invasive wasps and hornets and as a general rule, since I have a canine that goes into anaphylactic shock when she eats them, none pass inspection. They also tear up our house by chewing the boards like termites to make their nesting material (that part was an oversight on the builders end since none of the boards were properly treated but still) and the real sugar on top is I have had five hives of honey bees swarmed and murdered by them in the last six years... I really do NOT like them... This years offense; they tackled and murdered all my ladybugs and praying mantids and then didn't even eat them so other than for the sport of it, I am not sure there was much of a reason for them to chop up my buggies and spread the bits around... I would have understood if they ate them but they didn't :/ Mean for mean sake around these parts.

Wasps are predators and generally agressive against other species, especially those who live on a community model like bees.
So they basically defend their territories by killing invaders. No mean intention, just their instinct.
But, yeah, that's the main reason they are considered as nuisibles. On the other hands, they prey on many insects and help to regulate the ecosystem.

SwitchetO In reply to Simba003 [2015-07-13 21:00:57 +0000 UTC]

Around here they actually farm aphids and kill anything that eats them which is the best guess as to why they killed the ladybugs and mantids. My biggest problem is this winter did not get cold enough to thin the heards so now going outside is a death sentence for my dog and children since the subspecies we have up here are highly aggressive within a mile of their nest and we have a nest per every 15 feet of property. I have sold more benadril and bug spray this year at the store than any other year I can remember. People coming in with bitten children, people buying AC units so their kids will stay inside and people buying bug spray.

My BIGGEST issue is half of the nasty ones up here are invasive and it's nearly impossible to tell them apart from a distance. Some dingus thought they would eat some wood boring beetle they let loose on the trees so it was very Australia in the cane plant, cane beetle, cane toad situation. I can make room for a natural part of the ecosystem but when we get a highly aggressive species that is not supposed to be here in the first place, then I take issue and it does fall back on the humans responsibility to clean up their mess when they put innocent lives in danger who have no natural defenses against the new invaders. They are driving some of the wild alpine bumble bees out of the area up here and they do not pollinate in the bees place so we are actually looking at a micro to macro ecological disaster around here-it is REALLY bad!

Lovely story. I like to help insects too. When I was in the beach on holiday walking along the promenade I was entertaining myself turning over the beatles which were upside down.

Some guys were burning one with a lighter. They were the ones who should burn.
