Brilliant. Last year I led a tour to New Zealand, Fiji and Australia. Some of the students went to see 300. The next day I found myself stuck on a tour bus with one of the most vapid young ladies who kept going on about how great Sparta must have been where " there was no room for the weak" I didn't have the heart to tell her that she would be one of those hurled from the cliffs. It was only by financial privilege that she was able to live as she I suppose still does. In fact I was pretty much in favor of her being tossed out of a plane rather than the bars I heard she was tossed out of.
This story has inspired me. When I returned I had a new comment about the ualities of some of the students I teach. "some of them are like kittens, they are very cute when they are young but some should have been drowned in a sack in the lake before they got this far". Agreed, I can be just as guilty myself of wanting to decide who stays and goes in my tiny little world.

precisely the point of this symbol...have you watched the movie 300? this was directed by Frank Miller, its a really good take on Leonidas....i love the heroic stance that the spartans did facing Xerxes...thank you for faving
