Description This is the part of the movie where the mighty hunter of T-rexes is brought down by several tranquilizer darts. But you can bet that once she wakes up, she's not going to be happy. This is the latest in a series of the "movie" "Valley of the Giants." Once I saw this photo from Valley of the Gwangi, I was off like a shot kinomusorka.ru/views/data/imag… .
I had a great time working on this thing in my off hours at work, all while listening to some Neil Young www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlHf8r… . I'm also happy to say that kaspired.deviantart.com/ e-mailed me some sketches of a possible capture cage; unlike the cage in the dinosaur movie, we both envisioned something flat that they could drag her into with rollers.

This one now gets added to gulliver63.deviantart.com/art/… and gulliver63.deviantart.com/art/… and gulliver63.deviantart.com/art/…

An excited Bucky went running up to fetch his dad. "Paw! Paw! The thing opened it's eye!"

I own neither "Valley of the Gwangi" or the Family Guy characters.

Wonderful job on her right foot. I love the way her toes are perched up against that boulder, very realistic touch. They better hope she doesn't wake up though! XD

Thanks! I had so much fun doing that, because it looks like she tripped over those stones on the way down. I was really happy with the way everything went on this one.

Valley of the Gwangi is an underrated film. I'm surprised that nobody has considered a remake although I'm afraid Hollywood would botch it.

Even though Hollywood has been raping us of our childhood lately, I doubt that they could match the wonder that was Gwangi.

A great display of proportion.  Those cowpokes had better tie giantess Lois up really good because, as you've said in your narrative, when she wakes up from her tranquilizer-induced slumber, she's going to be really pissed.  Well done, good buddy.

Thanks! I love doing series, and this series has been especially fun. I would love to have that Gwangi DVD if I can find it sometime - I haven't seen it since Johnny and I were kids.

Well, hopefully you'll find that DVD.  "Valley of Gwangi" was another of Harrihausen's masterworks.

I've done fairly well in Half Price Books - I have the "Seven Voyages of Sinbad" and a couple of other Sinbad movies. I also have his Gulliver movie. Gwangi would make a nice addition to my collection.

The only Harryhausen films that I won't have in my collection are the Sinbad series, because Sinbad is an Islamic character and Islam nowadays leaves a sour taste in my mouth.  I hope you'll understand.

I really like the perspective you used.  That's actually pretty tricky.

Thanks! You should have seen how sloppy the developmental was, but it was a start. I thought it was pretty good for not having a model - I almost broke out the action figures, but didn't. I did look at a freeze frame for the face, but it wasn't in that position. I then pulled out the standard older pics to get the patchwork stuff right.

I still like that cage sketch - there's always room for one more to join me in my madness...

Those "sloppy development" sketches are actually pretty cool.  They show that there was alot of thought included.

Oh, those were the final developmental sketches, the actual project. My first sketch was just of her sitting there on the ground. BTW, those tranquilizer darts were a very last-minute thing, and I'm glad I added them. ::chuckles:: Kind of made me think of Wild Kingdom - Marlin Perkins enjoys a martini back at the tent while Ed chases down the giant Lois and has to put a tag on her ear.
