Did this to try out using textures. I had no idea what I was doing⦠How exactly do you use textures?Will be selling them individually as bookmarks at Anime Revolution next month.
This is the wallpaper (1366x768) version, feel free to use it personally but do not steal or sell. Thanks.

Textures add a bit of depth to a picture. My textures are in grayscale, then I put them Color Burn mode, somewhere between 10-25%. They only really show where the colors are darker.
I like the bookmarks, but your textures are too apparent, it feels a bit too much, like your characters are stained by blood. Or it's just me because I just finished watching a show where character end up soaked in blood in pretty much every episode. Moving on....
I think it could work better if :
- you went with flat colors only, then you can use heavy textures
or
- keep your usual cg style but with lighter textures
Other than that... There are a lot of artists here using textures. Look at how they use them. Take what you like best. Go with the way that looks better to you.

Thank you so much! The first person who answered my question said to set the layer to Screen, but I tried that and everything went so white '_'a Colour Burn looks pretty light too, I guess I need to change to some stronger texture and try again~ (I was trying to make the bookmarks look a bit rusty and ancient... but blood-stained sounds nice too XD)
I shall try with more different textures and see what I get ;D

Yeah it really depends on the textures. The ones I use usually have a grey background. If you are looking for textures to use, Lost and Taken has lots and they are free.
