Guyver, your art continues to astound me. These past few pages are really great, and I can't wait to see where you're going with this storyline. The only critique I have to offer is that you really don't need to add the extra symbols for motion and emotion. It sort of takes away from the professionalism in this type of comic. (At least to me it does.) Their reactions in general are pretty visible even with helmets on and such.
Otherwise please keep up the great work my friend!

This looks really good! The ODSTs look very accurate as does your drawing style as a whole. Did you used 3D models as a base to trace/draw them this accurate or is it all drawn from memory?
Also how long does one page took you to draw?

Before I start on something that I really want to draw I train my brain how to draw something by constantly tracing what I want to draw over and over, I did this with dinosaurs when I was a child and then drawing them just came to me naturally so I do the same thing with armor and other things (although for vehicles I'm not so adept so I do have to trace vehicles.)
I drew ODSTs constantly over and over (some of the ones on page 1 are from the sketches.)Β I pretty much know Halo Reach ODST design by heart now haha. So in a way I do trace them but when I get into drawing the actual project I remember it with a back up resource in a window just in case I forget something. (Damn shoulder armor is tricky for me though.)
This short comic is actually a bit of a prototype to how I'll do comics in the future. I worked on the line art first (I still have to finish 2 panels in page 4, most of page 5 and it looks like there will be a page 6.) then I started the detailing and such afterwards. Seems to be a better approach then working on them one at a time like I used to.
Page 1 was actually the one page that took me the most time because of the middle panel with the Infinity's Hangar background with several other characters and vehicles in it. Otherwise I think these first 3 pages line arts took me about a day's worth of work (not just 1 day but combined hours.)

I would've gone Halo 3 with their design but the gripe I had with their helmet was the piece that connects the top half of the design with the bottom half looks flimsy www.halopedia.org/images/9/93/β¦
While the slight redesign of it in Reach made it look strong and menacing and more detailed www.halopedia.org/images/3/3a/β¦ .
Β Halo Reach's ODSTs were the most detailed on their models and looked more... military like. All designs in Halo Reach for me are the definitive Halo look. Well anything that Isaac Hannaford the concept artist had created for the franchise was perfect. (The Halo 4 ODST is so.... simple and boring I don't even recognize it at all.)

True, that's why I tend to slightly modify the helmet to make it look a bit tougher than it is in Halo3. All in all I stick to the looks of the Halo3 - ODST model though.
I do like Reach's take on the ODST armor when it comes to the upper half of the body. The lower half however looks too random military for my taste whilst in Halo3 the boots and all the armor for the legs was somewhat iconic to me and the perfect transition between regular marine armor and Spartan armor. Also the jumpsuit isn't skintight in Reach anymore as it was in Halo3 so that kinda leaves me with the weird image of ODSTs wearing diapers under that suit.
All in all I liked some of the takes Reach offered when it came to UNSC armor but I think sometimes it went a bit too far away from Halo3 and came up with something more random sci-fi. But that's just me. I prefer Halo3/ODST armor but I also tend to mix the different variations to get better results in my drawings.
And yeah, the ODST armor in Halo4 was very bad. Reminds me of a soldier wearing Lego pieces as armor.

Sadly, I don't know much about Halo but I really like your artstyle! It looks so cool!Β
