I started sketching this way back in 2016 before I abandoned it. This was supposed to be my second Reylo Art Piece after this first one. But I wasn’t sure what to do with it so I left it. Recently, I started sifting through my files and found this. With a whole new inspiration, I decided to repurpose this art from Post TFA to Post TLJ.
Simply put, Rey is Kylo’s Salvation. It is not more eloquently put than in this Reylo Poem my husband wrote:
Ray of Light by Jamaeda
She fills the space within me
She’s the next breath I’m going to make
Her eyes make fires burn in my soul
Hers is the path I am to take
She is the bright parts of my spirit
A light that should be mine alone
She is my sanity, my sole absolution
She is the sin I can not atone
Only she can cast me from the shadows
The sole candle in the dark
Her love can pardon any transgression
Her presence, salvation’s spark
A dream within a dream
No two souls can be ever more apart
Yet if there’s hope for my redemption
It begins and ends with her heart
This is also sorta Hades/Persephone inspired, in that Rey here is like a goddess. The lightsaber was a last minute addition, inspired by the Sword of Damocles concept. But rather than really meaning something bad might happen at any time for these two, I actually just kinda like the aesthetic LOL!
