Well of course...but see my recent backlit pano...though not stormy. Plus some photogs opt to gnd/blend back detail instead of keep the scene dark. Weirdos

I won't call them wierdos, I just think that in this day of digital, where shadows can run open and free, black is the most neglected color of all.

Not to mention that for the most part, highlights draw the eye because of the contrast...which is seemingly totally forgotten by many.

I'm just not afraid to let shadows be black. Since I refuse to juice, I choose to go another direction...

Yep...not arguing that...and it's true. Think Ian just discussed something similar on NPN. Though blacks/darks can also draw the eye for negative space. This is well balanced all around.
