I love the little faces of the koi. There's something playful about them that adds a little something more to the piece. It's so serene and so gentle and with that extra little bit of fun it takes on a more meaningful symbolism, I think.

I love how it looks as though the figure has become a part of the water rather than just someone in the water (as though they're taking on its qualities as they meditate).

I always have the feeling that with meditating your either exist the most or cease to exist for a bit (or both at the same time if that makes sense to you). I tried to get that across here. Also, koi are just great fun to paint.

Oh... oh wow. This is so beautiful and so serene. I really like the subtle shading. It never ceases to amaze me how you seem to improve so much EVERY TIME you post something. God, those hands are so gorgeous.
