I'd say the shading, if anything. I suppose it is the moon shading, but the shadows on the right parts of the building don't seem synchronized and part of the water/shore seems darker without reason. Very nice though. Love the detail. o_o;

Synchronized as in..
the Right Part highlight is a bit more yellow-y or orange-y than the left side?
Oh and shore, noted XD

and thanks~! XD

Synchronized as in: look at the castle's two towers. The big tower's right side is a lot more dark then the smaller closer tower. Same applies to several of the other walls and maybe the bridge too, not sure.

The castle being lighter on the left side also feels strange-ish since the only visible lighting is at the back (the blue in the background).

There might of course be some subtle city lights to the left (out of picture), but if so then the highlights would have been fire'y orange/yellow and not straight sky-blue.

Now that I think about it, it's probably the moon? If so, then I'd try for a less contrast'y image in terms of light (as I mentioned earlier, certain parts darker for no clear reason). Moonlight should be like... everywherrrre!

O.O You're right~
I didn't even notice that..

I was thinking of making a few certain part of the middle of the castle a highlight points, but I guess that makes the other part become dark

/pat Always hard to spot your own mistakes.
Indeed
The highlights make it look interesting as a standalone piece, but as a matte painting that might be used together with other pieces then it might not work too well.

Hi! I just want to ask you a question for the correction I'll do on this one (at least I'll try *shot*) Do you want it more lively or leave it as it is but fix/add things to make it better?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

H-naaa In reply to Maroro [2011-07-01 06:29:32 +0000 UTC]

Hiyaa
Waii, thank you so much for taking time to do this correction~!!!

Well I would like to make it more lively actually o.o, like add a fire or something, but i cant get the right colour and mood for the light >.I hope you can help me with it~ xD

and thanks once again!!! XD

Maroro In reply to H-naaa [2011-07-01 07:08:41 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome!!

Oh, and do you want a warm/less-gloomy mood too? like with people walking on the bridge etc... at least I'll do my best to help you but for that I need some informations you see?

Anyway, I bet you'd like a tut-like correction so I think I don't have to ask you "do you want a tut-like correction or your work next to my finished correction?" XD

H-naaa In reply to Maroro [2011-07-01 07:12:22 +0000 UTC]

It was originally planned that way.. but I cant draw the torch lol >___<"

And yep lol, i prefer a tut like correction, coz I'm actually take things very slow Thank youuu~!!

Great work! I believe you did an amazing job on this piece If you think something seems wrong, maybe you should try to add a little bit of lighting to the castle...lets see.. like for example, a few torches? Or maybe you could add some lighting to it, as if the moon were illuminating it a little But otherwise, It's an amazing piece!

H-naaa In reply to Rhizo [2011-05-16 08:11:06 +0000 UTC]

Thank you~!! Q A Q
I was thinking of adding a torch at the beginning..
But after a few attempts.. I realize I like it darker..
(Or I just cant draw nice torches lol )
I'll try to add a bit more light to it then~

Thanks so much for the advice~!! XDD

your welcome they wouldn't have to be huge torches though, but no worries, dark looks awesome x)

Whooooa nice Who says you bad at landscape painting? lol.

Did you use any PS embossing effect, or is it all just painted? I really like how textural and realistic a lot of the detail, especially on the ground and bridge are. Only thing I would say is that it's very very dark. Might be partially my monitor's setting is different as well, but I find it hard to see a lot of the beautiful details you put in. The water/land area under the bridge seems like it's going at a funny angle as well *dunno how to explain orz*. Really nice job on this tho XD

H-naaa In reply to lainey-nesu [2011-05-16 08:25:15 +0000 UTC]

Hoo~ Thanks~ XDD
LOL I am bad at it.. OTL

err.. embossing? No its actually a lot of photos (which explain why they are a lot of detail LOL) being put in one place, and then I paint over the area that was cut out and change it to night scene, so they looks connected..

The reason I make it dark, so that you cant see the extreme colour change in dark scene//shotshot

Oh now that you meantion its, the water do looks funny.. O.O
I'll fix it later then~

Thanks for the help!!! XD

lainey-nesu In reply to H-naaa [2011-05-21 10:52:01 +0000 UTC]

Pffft whatever, I think your landscapes look good~

LOL I only just saw in your comments that it's a matte painting //shotfornotreadingproperlyorz
So now I get what you did X'D So you used photo of a few different castle to put it together? It's blended together very well still though~

Haha yeay, at least you understood what I mean
And you're welcome XD

serbus [2011-05-13 19:08:19 +0000 UTC]

I think you did an excellent job with this. The image overall is very desaturated. To fix this simply ctrl+shift+c and past into a new layer. Then go to filter, new adjustment layer, levels. Bring the triangle on the right down until it reaches the end of the graph. You may have to do this twice, but you'll probably get a huge loss in colour information, so instead try and see if you can adjust for the lightness, contrast, etc and see how that works.

H-naaa In reply to serbus [2011-05-16 08:19:25 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!

Erm, I tried what you've said.. But err.. I think my Photoshop have diferrent setting? O.O I cant find any adjustment layers.. Or do you mean in after effect?
I try duplicating and adjusting the level though.. and it turns out darker....(Not sure if I do it right though )
I try to adjust the lightning and contrast then~

Thank you so much for the advice~!! XDD

Ack, sorry. XD Try Layer>New Adjustment Layers>Levels and if that doesn't work try Image>Adjustments>Levels.

Holy. Shit. How do I give advice on this? I can't tell what's wrong with it at all (though I'm not to great with realism to begin with). This is awesome.

I think my favorite things about this picture would have to be the gloomy mood and the serene yet somewhat imposing castle.

Its actually a few photos combined together, and I just paint on top of them and change it to night scene to make them look connected, So that's why it looks real LOL

it's dark and gloomy xD you should fix the lighting a bit because with minimal light source, your objects seem to be glowing faintly. But overall, the design and the scenery is well put together :3

And i could be wrong xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

H-naaa In reply to Xalsoria [2011-05-13 11:13:41 +0000 UTC]

O.O Thanks for the comment~~ XDDD
Erm fix the lightning as in makes it more dark? Or makes it more glowy lol? XD And don't worry~ You're a great helper~ ^____^~

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Xalsoria In reply to H-naaa [2011-05-13 18:35:41 +0000 UTC]

hmm if u make it more dark, the entire piece will be harder to see xD What i mean is, u have lights from the front (like a medium amount of light) yet there's really no light source coming from that area to make the front of the castle light (i only see it from the back of the castle as its more dim towards the front) So maybe increase the lighting from the sky? or add some light source from the building itself like lamps owo or side fire or something xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

H-naaa In reply to Xalsoria [2011-05-16 08:00:18 +0000 UTC]

I can just submit a complete black picture to the lecturer and say its city on lunar eclipse LOL

Oh, you mean make the sky brighter? O.O
I was thinking of adding lamp at first.. but.. >.> I can't draw lamp huhu...

Xalsoria In reply to H-naaa [2011-05-16 14:09:16 +0000 UTC]

ehh? lol very artistic sending a black lunar eclipse picture xD

Yes, probably make the sky brighter on the middle left edge owo omg i feel like im giving wrong advices >.<

Now that i see it more often, it kinda grows on me now and i like it the way it is haha xDD
