Something I've had in progress since January, I think, and continued yesterday to finally finish it. I started painting this in reverse colors, with the idea of inverting it in the end, and I do think it came out looking pretty neat.

This character was originally inspired by the game The Vanishing of Ethan Carter that had mentions of the demon Klepoth and vague references to crows and whatnot, and it started fleshing itself out little by little.

Klepoth is a demon of illusion often described to bring dreams and visions of all kinds. In the book The Dictionary of Demons it's written that Klepoth can conjure illusory music that seems entirely real. He can also make a person feel as if they are spinning and dancing even when they are merely standing still. He can also cause the sound of a whispered voice to manifest in a person's ear, and is said to use this trick to help people cheat at cards.

For this character, he is able to manipulate and twist a person's mind with illusions and nightmarish dreams to a point where they won't be able to tell the reality from a dream, and he feeds on the anxiety, fear and confusion that it ensues. Whispers in the ear are a way to scare them and enhance the effects of anxiety and fear. The largest amount of power he receives if his little tricks cause the person to commit suicide or die in any other way. He might make his presence known by creating a flow of distant, distorted music, and much like demons are sometimes said to do, he might cause interference in electronics and whatnot. He also enjoys darkness, so flickering lights and breaking flashbulbs are a common sign of his presence. These sorts of things.

He stands in a slouch and stalks through the darkness with long, lazy strides in a slow pace, with his long arms usually hanging by his sides. Aside the occasional whispers, while he doesn't generally speak, he might sometimes let out a few words, usually in latin, and I've imagined his voice to generally sound like something like this . (This movie gave me a lot of vibes for this character in general lel.)

While the demon Klepoth itself is not, obviously, mine, this character by the same name is. Art is also mine.
