Ever since I've learned so much about the Titanic and the subsequent disaster, I've had nothing but the most reverent respect for the subject of this ill-fated ship and its unfortunate victims.

Also serious respect for Dr. Robert D. Ballard, the man who found the Titanic wreck-site.

Especially since he's gone out of his way to see the wreck-site protected.

However, bacteria is starting to eat away at the Titanic wreck site.

While that might be bad for the Titanic, for ecologists, this is actually a good thing.

Oh? I mean, I know about artificial reefs, and yeah, I can see why they wouldn't want toxins like lead seeping into the water or something (sorry to say, but with the Titanic gone, that won't be a problem anymore)

Actually, it means this bacteria can wipe out shipwrecks around the world, making the ocean even cleaner. ^^

I love to listen to his composing on 'An American Tail' (1 and 2) and 'Balto'.
He was a great composer.

I think I like American Tail 2 the most out of those, I think it was the first thing I watched from him.

Absolutely sad! He was one of the greatest modern composers Hollywood has ever known and now that he's gone, there could hardly be anymore people that could have as much of a lasting legacy as Horner and Jerry Goldsmith did. R.I.P.

I've been listening to "Somewhere Out There" by Linda Ronstadt lately. I believe it was Horner that helped write the song; unfortunately, Linda can no longer sing the song anymore because she'd been suffering from Parkinson's disease for some time now. That just adds up to the stunning sadness caused by Horner's death.

Found out about this when mentioned this in a journal on her page.Β It's just so tragic to lose one who's given such great music to cinema.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wz1xA⦠; I listened to this in his memory...

That makes me more embarrassed that it flew under my radar, I don't really look at her page as much as I do yours >////>
Yeah....it sure is tragic....
Awww, that's a lovely song too...I guess I made my choice because it had a lot less exposure than that one

Yeah...heck, I should have posted a journal entry about it...DAMN!
It truly was...;_;
It's a good one, too.
The section I've got there from "Titanic"...it's just spell-binding, when you consider it's in reference to a ship whose name, so synonymous with the luxury and grandeur of the Gilded Age, would also be synonymous with human hubris and disaster.

As you can imagine, from the last statement on this comment here ( comments.deviantart.com/1/5453β¦ ), I hold the subject of Titanic and the disaster and loss of life so synonymous with her very seriously, and with the greatest reverence and respect.

Oh, ehehe, yeah, sorry I didn't respond to that at first.
Oh yeah, it was a really awful tragedy, It was very much a defining moment in maritime history ;_;
One thing I'm gonna be sure of is that I'm gonna take it upon myself to tell kids today that it was a real ship and not a James Cameron movie(apparently, some kids are starting to think that now)

It's cool.Β Even I've replied to comments late m'self.
And it was a terrible tragedy. So many people lost their lives because of the disaster for which this ship has gained such infamy. Back in 2012, Titanic's last survivor passed away, which led to my friend to post a very touching memorial disneyfan-01.deviantart.com/jo⦠.
Indeed.Β Considering how there was considerable corners cut and very unwise decisions made during Titanic's construction (lowered bulkheads for the water-tight compartments, reduction of the originally planned 48 lifeboats to 16, the one-inch-think hull held together by wrought-iron rivets which couldn't take severe impact), there had to be serious revisions in maritime law.Β Additionally, human hubris also led to the disaster, claiming that, "not even God could sink this ship".Β Jesus said it himself when he was being tempted by the Devil: "You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.", which unwittingly, the people who boasted Titanic's unsinkable state did.Β The fateful iceberg that tore a gash along Titanic's starboard side was just the final nail in the coffin.
Really?Β They don't know that James Cameron's movie was based upon the actual ship and the disaster surrounding it?!Β Unbelievable!Β Anyone who's heard of Titanic should know it was a real ship!

Very much so.
I learned about many of Titanic's flaws from this documentary: www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyLjw0β¦
Someone had said "Not even God could sink this ship"...in any way, shape or form, a foolish boast.Β And a tempt of fate that should not have been made.
Pfffft...ragtime jazz?Β I sincerely doubt THAT would have done it.
Heck, I got to watch NatGeo's special "Secrets of the Titanic", which showed the efforts of Dr. Robert D. Ballard and a dedicated crew of technicians and fellow explorers finding the wreck-site.
