Description Finally finished! I was so excited about this piece last year but then it got put on the back burner when I got pregnant. It's my friend, Jen (who is just as pretty in real life) done from a photo I took for this. I wanted to have a complicated Mucha inspired border...maybe I still will but I just couldn't make it work, an do like things simple. We shall see. Either way I'm very happy with the outcome.

Wonderful... simple but still so many little details. The portrait is beautiful not just from the model but from the colours, lines, simplicity and pure emotion of it.

I might still do one if I do a canvas print. I'd like to do a border by hand with gold leaf.

I've done silver leaf on an oil painting before, so I think it would be not too bad. You just draw the design in pencil, trace it with a paintbrush with varnish and then apply the metal leaf when it's tacky.

I always think it's beautiful when other people do it, but I haven't tried it myself... Well, I don't paint that often in the first place, and it's pretty expensive stuff to mess around with
