Also, the majority do not like it because it is not written by the original creator, Akira Toriyama.
They also said it had plotholes and what not. I find plotholes actually good because it leaves you thinking and letting you use your imagination to fill them in.
To me, they are just a bunch of whiny ass fanbrats who do not like GT just because it does not fit their fancy. Don't like it, do not watch it. Simple as that.

I love both Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT. I've been a fan of DBZ since I was in the fifth or fourth grade. I don't know why GT gets so much hate though. I find it pretty underrated to be exact. The complaint I have against GT is that is too short for a series. Anyway, I hate it when someone bashes GT or DBZ for no reason. The only Dragonball series I hate is Kai(I mean what was wrong with the original?) Nicely done on the stamp by the way.

Well you're comparing an art style of a few years difference of DBZ to DBGT for one. "Shiny", as I can tell you mean, just shows how 'new' it could look and did.
Baby was OK, Super 17 came and went before ever making much effect, and the Dragon Saga? That just makes GT worth watching.

Just because it was newer doesn't make it look better. I didn't say shiny, I said too shiny. The colouring looked lazier, to me.
Uhh, I didn't like the baddies 'cause there was nothing special about them. Baby was like a cross between Cell and a twit, and it had already been done, only it was better the first time.
I don't dislike GT because it had nothing to do with Akira Toriyama, I just reckon that he would have written another series had there been any room for one. :j And I watched it without really knowing that at the time, but I still didn't like it.

YOU may think there was nothing special about the villains but I was trying to make a silver lining in what you said and I think at least some of them were neat.
I see nothing wrong with the coloring either though but that's me; a 'too shiny' comment doesn't make sense nor do I find it legitimate as a complaint for anything since I watch a lot of new anime anyways these days.
You DO know GT came as an emergency project because of DragonBall manga sales threatening his career, right? (ie: they were sucking horribly)

I know that's what I think, that's why I said it. xD
Uhh, by shiny, I mean the way they colour the characters makes their skin and hair look unnaturally shiny. I wasn't trying to compare it to shininess to explain the effect, I genuinely meant too shiny.
But it was produced by Funimation.
I'm not trying to suggest you shouldn't like it. I'm saying I didn't like it.

Damn right it's special! I mean for God's sake to write off an entire series because it wasn't directly involved with Toriyama? HELLO!!? What about any of the movies in the anime?!?!
ugh.

It is, and it doesn't get enough credit for it. I nearly wanted to shout "OH SHUT UP" when, in a Dragon Ball panel at Otakon, when it was mentioned, nearly all the fans in the room were booing it.
I was so pissed.

Yea, I don't get why people don't like it, it's funny, it's got action, it's pretty creative when it comes to villains.
I put your stamp in my journal to show my DBGT support XD

EXACTLY! I think it's because it's more strategy based and more beam-spamming *not a problem to me though* because you realize...none of the bad guys die simply by being weak. Every villain had to be killed a CERTAIN WAY.
Plus, we get to see Goku as a kid again so that's always awesome.

I agree!! I think most people don't like it because it wasn't made by the original creator and therefore is not legitimate, so it must = bad show.
Goku as a kid was one of my favorite parts!! He looked different than in dragon ball but he was still so cute.

See but the argument of "not made by original creator= don't bother" can be done with ALL OF THE DRAGON BALL Z MOVIES since Toriyama was only the artist for each film. Therefore...NOBODY should like them on that theory. I think people just get stupid over such small things.

I TOTALLY agree. The DBZ movies definitely fall into the category but no one hardly complains about them. They don't fit anywhere in the actual DBZ timeline.

HatakeMirukon In reply to KillerBunnySlippers [2008-12-04 06:47:53 +0000 UTC]
And when they DO fit into the timeline, you may have to construe what happened *ie: for how long* or whatever and then it just gets hectic!
I think people are just hard to please because GT wasn't the same "fist-fest" as the rest of DBZ and that turned those fans off. Oh well. Japan seems to be loving GT all over again because sales figures as of late show they're buying up everything Dragon Ball related again!

I know, I got a headache trying to figure out where the hell the Broly movie came in to play. When I saw them just having a picnic and stuff when they're supposed to be fighting the androids I was just like waitaminutehere...
I liked that there wasn't as much fist fighting in GT. If they would have done that to GT it would have just been DBZ all over again and that's not creative.

You know, your line of thinking is much like mine. I like that. It's very rare, even in my line of DBZ friends, to find someone who agrees with me so much on GT at the very least.
You've gained MY respect, so I shall watch you.

That's a really good point. People just like to complain about things, I think it makes them feel superior.

HatakeMirukon In reply to KillerBunnySlippers [2008-12-06 23:50:18 +0000 UTC]
It does make them feel superior. Which is why at first I wanted to nitpick at, say, Silent Hill Homecoming when I first started playing it *just to make a point* but then I realized that it was the first in a new direction, new company, and with the intention to feel like "the second game" so...afterwards I came to love it.
So the same principle applies. ^^ GT is great...and plus, it answers the one question of how much power you could gain from having your tail back and WITH the experience of fighting within "Z".
