To everyone who sticks their nose up to others when they engage in conversation about an anime IN ENGLISH...............SHUT THE FUCK UP.It pains me that the most elitist of anime fans are those who prefer to 'read' their anime because of their preferences being, for one reason or another (be it stupid or not. But most of the time, just stupid) justify that the "English is not good enough to justify a purchase." or that anyone who likes the franchise first and foremost for it needs to die.
Listen. We're in America. You fucking LEARN to speak English here and therefore trying to say "Oh well it sounds better in Japanese."
Why?
Someone provide me with a DECENT argument for once because as of today, nobody ever has on the topic. They either respond with "It just sounds better" or "I don't like *name*'s voice." or "I don't think it works in the show." but nothing else, and when they DO try to sound smart and give me any and ALL good reasons to watch it in Japanese, they falter and I'm left, walking away chuckling to myself to their sheer stupidity, or shaking my head going "Anime shouldn't have to be judged on such a factor, for god's sake.".
Unless it's done by 4kidz, who have no respect for any and all anime they touch, then I concur that nobody can say that any dub is "horrible" or anything else unless they prove me wrong.
I dare someone to do so.

I support both English and Filipino dub, besides Dubs or subs will not dictate the quality of anime only the storyline.

Everybody bitches about Mega Man X4's English dub being bad. Sure, makes me cringe sometimes but it ain't half bad compared to other dubs.

While I prefer subbed, if the dub is good enough I'll watch it. Some dubs are horrible sounding, some guys sound whiny as hell, it's annoying sounding!

The worst dubs I've heard were Spiral, Akira streamline dub and MAR.

I hate nowadays' anime dubs, because voice actors/actresses are mimicing original voices. Old anime dubs are much better. For example in Sherlock Hound dub actors/actresses used Brittish accent.

Personally I prefer the English dubs as well and I think the English actor get into the drama better than the Japanese actors. sure there might be stuff lost in translation but that never ruined the dub for me and besides, I would think most of us would rather want watch our anime instead of sitting around reading subtitles throughout the whole episode and miss the action!! XDΒ

If a dub is done rather well, I prefer it. Though some things get lost in translation, it's still the same anime, just with different voices.

In my opinion, dubs are almost always better. The voices usually fit better and the English VA's can actually give characters an accent if need be.

Yeah not English dubs are bad.Β Β In fact I think the English dub of Death Note is better than the Japanese version. Also people can just simply like Japanese voice actors better than English it is just preference! And WE ARE ARE NOT ALL FROM AMERICA! (sorry for me yelling it is just a pet peeve of mine.)

The main reason I watch dubs is because I like to work on art while watching anime.

I think it really depends on what you watch first. If you watched it in English first it will most likely sound better in English to you. If you watched it in Japanese first it will most likely sound better in Japanese to you. To me the Japanese DOES sound better, they sound more in character. The tones are often better. The mood and emotions used for the scenes fits more. Β And it should be judged on the voice acting quality because it is one of the main mediums used to convey who the characters are and what emotions they show or repress when in certain situations.
And personally I can not stand how the English speaking voice actors pronounce certain names. Just change the names if you do not have actors who can pronounce it instead of butchering it.

But sometimes when our cartoons get sent over to Japan, they pronounce OUR names wrong too, so is that really fair? And considering the Japanese made anime versions of our shows (probably without permission) like the Powerpuff Girls and Lilo & Stitch, I think we have a right to pronounce names wrong if we want (even if it is on purpose or accident doesn't matterΒ >.<)

I don't watch anime too often, however, and the only reason I watch the 4Kids sub of Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal is because no-one on the internet will touch it. I suppose that says a lot about my entertainment tastes; i'll like nearly anything provided it's either horror or card games.
I do feel bad about this hypocrisy: I watched LittleKuriboh's Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged and then switched back to the 4Kids version of Yu-Gi-Oh and started screaming, literally.Β

Thank you! I love this stamp. I know too many weeaboos that call me a noob me for watching a lot of the dubbed anime. I have ADHD so it's hard to read the subs and let it compute into my mind at the same time, so it's much more beneficial for me to watch the dub. Plus, dubs aren't even that bad (unless, like you said, it's 4kidz, but that's the only exception). I like to watch a lot of Funimation dubs. Hatahs be hatin!
Subs are still good, but I really like the dubs a lot too.Β

I don't mind subs sometimes, like if no dub exists or I just felt like trying something new, but I enjoy the art aspects so much that I'd rather just look at the pretty animation on the first viewing.
