Description
Friend took a quick picture of my Lin Bei Fong Cosplay at fanime.I decided to try my hand with Sintra for my first attempt at making full armor in any form. The stuff was really fun to work with and it felt great to wander in stuff I could take a punch in literally.
Still got stuff to finish by comic con(pouch, workable reels) . But for the most part it was a good test run before the final full version
. If anyone captured me in this at fanime let me know, this is literally the only picture I have ATM.

Sadly sintra is hard armor. The pieces are rigid with only a tiny bit of flex. Due to this her outfit has to be made in parts and siting can be a challenge. If you are looking for a completely flexible armor I'd suggest using a foamie-based method. I can move since I built joints into the armor, but to sit comfortably I generally take off the skirt or breastplate.

It took a lot of planning, patterning and trial and error. Luckily, I've been making costumes for a bit now so basic drafting comes pretty quickly to me

This cosplay is awesome! This armor really looks sturdy, just like Lin's metal armor. You're one of the only Avatar cosplayers who makes sturdy looking armor, most people have armor that looks soft and flimsy.

My armor fell apart, as expected, but that's what happens when you do things 3 weeks before a con.

Hi, its good to hear from a fellow Lin cosplayer. I totally understand the frustration making this stuff I was dealing with time constraints as well.
All I can recommend is using Google. I found the majority of the information I was looking for through tutorials on you-tube and Google search. Also armor archive is a good place to start if U need assistance figuring out patterns.
