Description Name: Mole-Type Subterranean Titan, or the "Sub-Titan"
Aliases: Mr. Digs, the Upturner, St. Emtee, TST, the Pred-Titan, Subsy, Prederick, Siya sino Isinusumite ('He Who Submits'), Ang Ngipin sa Ilalim ('The Teeth Beneath')
Faction: Rogue
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Kaiju Rank: 3

Stats:
Height: 40 meters (fully reared) / 25 meters (all fours)
Length: 60 meters
Weight: 23,000 tons

Powers:

Jaws From Below : The stout jaws of the Pred-Titan are supreme killing tools. Powerful and infested with aggressive bacteria, the great maw of the mole can have a devastating effect on foes that lasts weeks. The sturdy teeth themselves are capable of sheering straight through flesh an crunching bone, and the infections they carry will slow the wound's healing greatly, even for monsters with advanced generation. This deadly bite is designed, from fang to slobber, for taking down and weakening foes rapidly. The Sub-Titan is an unforgiving predator, and his bite embodies this.

Slaughter Paws : The forelegs of the Pred-Titan are frighteningly dangerous. Thick, muscular, and swift, these lethal paws are armed with three razor-claws each and lined by blunt spikes that can punch through even armor. Made for digging through either soil or flesh, these hefty front limbs are tough and dense-skinned. Half the time, the claws are ignored in favor of wild swings that strike like furry war clubs. The Pred-Titan rears on his small hind legs to use his paws.

Spur Spikes : Like the spikes that jut from his arms, the Sub-Titan has a row of rounded spurs on his tail. Although quite nasty when swung about, their rather limiting position on the whip-like tail makes them one of the mole's lesser used weapons. A very good defensive tool though. Foes that attack the burrower's underside may find an unpleasant surprise waiting for them when the beast flicks the thick base of his tail towards their open jaws and vulnerable eyes.

Subterranean Senses : Living in a world of damp darkness and echoing sounds, the Sub-Titan has some of the kaiju world's most acute senses. He can smell, hear, and even feel the vibrations of anything near, as well as things much further away. The mole can sniff out a single drop of blood through dozens of meters of dense soil, hear the struggles of prey from halfway across the planet, and feel the footsteps of even the most light-footed foes from more than a mile away. Not only do these incredible senses give the Pred-Titan an impeccable early warning system, but it allows him to hone in on prey before it knows of its own vulnerability.

Super Duper Sonar : The most vital of the Sub-Titan's superior senses, the mole has replaced his natural eyes with an eye of the mind- an eye of sound. The mole employs an advanced form of biological sonar to 'see' his surrounding like a silvery map. He can sense everything around him for thousands of feet without fail. Only another who uses sound could interfere with this hyper-echolocation.

Radar Burst : By increasing the power of his sonar to its absolute peak, the Pred-Titan can generate an explosive bark of sound that can pulverize flesh and knock back even the heaviest of giants. This sonic assault can be manipulated from a wide pulse to a narrow blast, with the attacks properties varying as its shape changes. Can peel off skin, strip flesh from bones, or even vibrate solid flesh into a gory, half-liquid mess.

Grab Band : The thick band of dark, stiff fur that follows the Pred-Titan's spine is actually his most important hunting tool. On a microscopic level, it is nothing more than a forest of razor hooks and barbs. These nasty little hooks can anchor themselves almost immovably into flesh. No matter how much victims thrash and struggle, they will only become more entangled. To remove these sadistic hooks, the flesh they hold must be sacrificed or the hair itself ripped out from the root. The Sub-Titan uses these hair-hook by burying himself just below the surface with only the band of fur visible. Then, he simply waits for a victim to become trapped within the broad stripe of death. Because of the rotting flesh that becomes stick in this fur, the long crest reeks of death and decay. This only serves to cover the mole's own scent and draw in hungry predators though. The hooks, while difficult to escape, will not too much damage to foes. They are merely to keep enemies and victims still. Prolonged contact with these hooks will result in numerous shallow gashes at most. Many do not even draw blood.

Razor-Hair Tail : Although the hair on his back is not suitable as an offense, the fur that tips the mole's whip-like tail is a different story entirely. Instead of hooks, these strands of stiff fur are flattened razorblades that can slice and slash like the cutting edge of any blade. This lethal sharpness combined with the sheer number of hairs creates a deadly mass of cutting edges that can skins foes and mulch bare flesh to a pulp.

Body Mold : The Sub-Titan is supremely flexible. To reach victims stuck to his back, he must be. The mole can easily touch his rump with his snout and stretch even further past that. In a defensive behavior, the Pred-Titan has even been observed tying himself into a tight knot with only the repulsive hair-hooks jutting out. Also, the mole can flatten out his skeleton, adding to his adaptability. He can change and shape his body as far as any mammal possible could, and all to either snag a meal or escape becoming one.

Speed Bore : The Pred-Titan is a superb tunneler. He can excavate vasts caverns and pathways through tough soil and solid rock within minutes, his arms whirling like pinwheels as he carves away stone and earth with his tough spade-like claws. The underground creature can move beneath the earth almost as fast as he can above.

Frantic Frenzy : The Pred-Titan is a creature of constant hunger, constant hunting, and constant frenzy. There is almost no still moment for him. He must be moving in some small way to stay sane. Like an advanced case of ADHD, the mole is antsy and hyperactive and quick. Unlike ADHD, he is completely focused on one thing and one thing alone- food.

Weaknesses:

Sightless : The Pred-Titan has no eyesight to speak of. With his eyes next to useless in his underground hunting grounds, the beast's mutation simply got rid of them. Subsy has no eyes- only sickly black sockets in the sides of his savage head. With the mole's other senses at a near supernatural high, this is typically not a problem, although the potential of this flaw being taken advantage of always exists.

One-Timer : The Pred-Titan, for all his tenacity and ferocity, will never attempt something he was unsuccessful at a second time. His initial attempt- and loss- is also his last. This is an exaggerated learning response. Subsy accepts things as they first appear. If he did not succeed the first time, the act is then impossible. Failure is the end of capability- this is the motto of the Sub-Titan. This unusual instinct is leftover from the beast's days as a helpless mole that was too small for the world and scared of everything.

Personality:

Like Drakia is a survivalist, the Pred-Titan is a hunter. Food is his life, his existence, his sole reason for existing- he is one this Earth to eat. And he eat a lot. The Sub-Titan can consume his own body weight within a few days, and would gladly gorge on even more if give the chance. To devour such a monstrous amount, the mole is fast and aggressive and bold. Nothing is too big or too intimidating for him to take on. Or at least not at first. Beyond his hunger and bloodlust, the Pred-Titan still retains the passive nature of his original life as a cowering insectivore. Frenzied predatory instinct may overwhelm these more sheepish urges initially, but whenever the mole faces defeat or death, his true nature emerges- cowardice. And tenacious cowardice at that. Once something has endangered his life, the Pred-Titan will avoid it at all costs. He may exist to eat, but eating requires surviving.

History:

For nearly two months, something had been driving Drakia mad. Something had been causing the lithe lizard to level trees and upturn earth. Something had changed in the reptile's world.

And she sure as hell didn't like it.

As to what this maddening something was, the reality of the lizard's enragement revealed itself in a most unexpected way-

A great grove of hair sprouting from the earth.

It was a curious thing, the tall growth of hair from the barren soil of a forest clearing- nearly ten meters straight up. And it attracted attention. One of the super-forest's oversized inhabitants- a seven meter deer- wandered from the trees and shrubs that guarded her to get a closer look. With tentative steps and wary glances, the massive doe slowly approached. Once she was near, the hooved giant dipped its long, elegant neck and gently touched her snout to the bizarre incidence. Satisfied with her brief sniff, the doe made to pull away.

Her nose didn't budge.

The nervous animal flex into a panic, jerking and tugging on her stuck head. She only succeeded in shredding her delicate nostrils, crimson streaking her dusky fur like angry veins. The ground began to rumble and churn. With a burst of soil and vegetation, a tremendous head filled with thick fangs pushed from the bowels of the planet and latched onto the unfortunate deer. The poor, poor doe thrashed and kicked with all her strength, fighting for her life, but she was no match for a predator more than three time her size. With a horrible wet riiiiiiii-IIIIP!, the hunter tore away a grand chunk of the doe. Her suffering ended instantly. As the doe fell limply, the hunter pulled itself from the ground- a huge mole-like creature, ravenous and terrible. No sooner than its bristled tail tip left the earth, the feat began. Blood spilled across the ground, flesh was shredded by savage fangs, bones were crunched into and marrow dribbled across a slavering snout- it was nature at its most brutal. It was an awful sight. A primeval scene.

And an unwelcome one.

Like the snaking whiz of an arrow, a long yowl rang across the jungle. The master of the trees had been disturbed. The queen of the foliage was angry! Leaping from the trees like a demonic draco lizard, skull-like face contorted with anger and tail lashing furiously, Drakia smashed into the mole-creature and rolled it onto its side. With razor-talons, the reptile sliced into the mammal like a particularly tender cut of steak. The subterranean titan- 'Sub-Titan'- fought back. Paws hard as hammers slammed Drakia like battering rams. The thin brawler was sent tumbling back with a pained howl. Strong and fast, blind and all-seeing, the mole pounced upon the writhing lizard and slugged her again and again with his spurred forearms and razor-haired tail. Before the reptile could retaliate, the underground killer lunged down and wrapped his deadly jaws around Drakia's throat. He was not like her. He was not fighting to secure territory. He was fighting to eat. To eat Drakia. He was a predator! A predatory Sub-Titan!

A Pred-Titan!

Drakia was not a stupid creature. She knew she had no chance battling like this. She would be open and bleeding out within minutes. The mole was stronger. He was quicker. Larger. Almost as agile. All she had- all she could rely on- were her wits. And she intended to use them. Fighting out from beneath the hungry beast, the clever huntress lead the rampaging predator on a wild chase. They battled through jungle, through fields, through rivers, and even lakes, all the while clawing and thrashing and tumbling towards the highest point on the islands- a behemoth of a tree that Drakia preferred as her perch. Thrown towards the branched god of nature by a brutal burst of sound, the slim lizard swiftly scrambled up her favored hangout. Eager to follow but unable to climb, the Pred-Titan screeched in rage and cast himself at the tree's base. Screaming his anger to all that would hear it, the mole tore away the bark and fibers that supported Drakia. Creaking and groaning like a dying deity, the wooden monolith shuddered, shuddered, then toppled-

Directly down towards the Sub-Titan.

Leaping from her sacrificed perch and gliding away with a mocking cry, Drakia watched as the towering monument of wood and leaves plunged like a divine thunderbolts and crushed the mole under its weight. The eating machine's irate calls cut off with a low gurgle. Dust and debris exploded out in all direction, a natural mushroom cloud curling up into the heavens. Touching down and trotting towards the fallen giant, Drakia boldly leapt atop the wooden carcass. She jumped back off with a yelp when it shifted, a wide tunnel revealed beneath.

Defeated and broken, the Pred-Titan had fled.

But he would not stay gone.

Within a few weeks, sightings of the subterranean predator poured in from all across the Philippine island, particularly Drakia's patchy kingdom. The mole's presence there was confirmed in time, but it was also proved he had no more desire to feed upon the reptile. Quite the opposite. The mole now submitted totally to the lizard. Whenever she bared her fangs, he acted suitably fearful. Whenever she lunged, he fled. Whenever she made a kill, he waited patiently to take the scraps. He was beaten by the Queen of the Jungle and now lived under her, Drakia's first subject.

Predator turned scavenger.

Drakia- left with permanent scars on her jugular- never allows the mole too much freedom. She is always sure to drop in and give the mammal a few bats when she feels he's become too empowered. She keeps the mole humble. And, coincidentally, her own ego- if she has such a thing- up.

Important Dates:

July 7th, 20X1 - The Sub-Titan appears and is attacked by Drakia. The lizard is nearly killed and consumed by the larger monster, but she manages to seize triumph by toppling a massive tree on the mole.

October, 20X1 - The Pred-Titan is confirmed back in Drakia's kingdom and submits to the smaller hunter. He survives there on the oversized fauna, but isn't allowed to eat quite as luxuriously as before.

---

Yep, Subsy is here now. The 'Pred-Titan' was an idea that's been bouncing around in my head for a while now, but I only announced it recently to regain a bit of the surprise element. Rather proud of this one. I think it takes a satisfying turn from the shy, but berserker-like, New World original- an aggressive, but cowardly, KAS variant.

As a note, yes, I am going to give Drakia's little string of super-islands their own page as a location. 'Huntress's Grove' or 'Predator Point'... something along those lines.

Fenris is next for the KAS treatment, and, whoo boy, should that be fun.

Awesome looking beastie you have here! Like that he's an actual ambush predator, who once he something proves to be uneatable, he won't try again. Shows that he's intelligent enough to learn that, no, trying again probably won't work and he should quit while he is ahead.

The velcro mane is a really neat power, too, something that is passive but effective.

A most impressive KAS interpretation, the Velcro-mane is an especially creative addition to an already formidable monster. I too think that Pred' could work as NW:ROG canon, perhaps as a monstrous relative to desmans or armored shrews.

LOL "Prederick", I love that.

This is very inspired. I really like the way you thought out it's abilities and how even one encounter with this thing can be your last, either for you or the kaiju in question in facing defeat. Most kaiju will beligerently attack again and again in the face of obstacles until they die, this one behaves like it's source animal, timid and paranoid of anything that remotely proves to be a threat.

Seems we'll have to note the location of these islands on the KAS map some time.

but hey, Drakia is now a hero! sort of.

She's the hero Indonesia deserves, but not the one it needs. Not right now. So we'll hunt her down. Because she can take it. Because she's not a hero, but a silent protector. A watchful guardian. A Drak Knight.
