Heyyyy....its rly late o well......anyway this is my entry for the temeraire fan club's valentine's day contest.
.....dang, the room is spinning....
Qin Lung Mei is actually dark blue but she came out purple.... i dont know why. stupid watercolor.
gawd, I'll type more tomorrow....sleep......

The Next Day...
okay so i was exhausted when i finished this peice, it's actually twice this size, but the rest is just some mountains that came out all wrong anyway, so when i scanned the first half into my puny scanner, it actually did me a HUGE favor by cropping them out. Who would have guessed! lol anyway here it is all cropped and ready to go
done in cheap tube ink and watercolor, with a chinese watercolor brush, and the scales were done in micron pen .20mm.
also the chineese letters say Dragon and Love.

I think it's a very nice picture. It definitely has a Chinese/Japanese feeling to it with the watercolor brush strokes and blotches. The leaning trees make this even more so. The rocks have excellent texture for traditional artwork; they appear to be smooth mountainous boulders. It has a calm demeanor with the analogous colors. The "hanging" outline lines help keep the figure without getting in the way. There are even little detailed scales, and I can't imagine how you could have done those little bitty lines without much difficulty. The Chinese letters are very clever, especially for a Valentine's day work. This is amazing and perfect for a classic Chinese art novel. <3

Hello! I know this art has been done in 2010, but i'm curious, it was really published into one of the books? Sadly i can read only the online editions.
BTW If you're read the last book (Blood of Tyrants), this particular picture gain even much more credits as display of a pretty scene x3

Not sure, I don't think the book was ever published, she may be waiting until the series is finished before she writes the anthology this was meant for. Haven't read blood of tyrants but will do in the near future

Beautiful!! This is amazing, I love the water color effect. Though I must say, I am routing for Temeraire/Iskierka. I just want to Iskierka and Mei duel it out that would be a crazy fight. Then Iskierka can win and her and Temeraire will have the next generation of totally cool fierce powerful Kazilik/Celestial dragons!! Anyways, this is an amazing piece with enourmous detail. Congrats on winning the contest!

Haha, right on! that would be interesting to see, but I don't think Celestials can successfully mate with other breeds... haven't read the latest book so I cant be sure. Also this was done in watercolor so hence the effect lol

its the Temeraire series, the first book is called His Majesties Dragon. I'd recommend picking them up, super amazing books!

This is nice, I just read the first book of the series translated to my language, I plan to read the others soon. Those two seems to make a cute couple.

not any more than you do...the date keeps getting pushed back and the book keeps getting upgrades, so more bang for our buck (art) lol

ah well; should be interesting to have a look at. It's so outdated though I'm ashamed to call the artwork i submitted mine because it's so childish in it's rendition haha oh well, I guess it's something to look forward to getting xD
