My first real book love affair. I have been in love with The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe ever since I was 8- I thank my teacher for getting me into it, among other things. Mr. Tumnus has always been a favourite character of mine. So precious. Is it weird that I'm in love with a fictional character? Like seriously, how sweet is he? No wonder Lucy trusted him early on...I'm in love with a faun <3This started off as a joke to kill time but then it became something bigger along the way. Lucy is part of this piece but seeing as how it is 2:29 (been going at this for 5 hrs or so..) a bit tired and I dropped some gouache on her nose
She was such a cutie too. I guess I'll fix it asap and post the whole composition but Tumnus was WAY too cute not to post.I used gouache for this piece but wanted watercolour, hence the water-down areas

Amazing likeness! The piece overall has a lot of personality and energy. The composition has a lot of movement, and I love the quirkiness of the background

AHHHH! I LOVE this SO much! I love your brush strokes and the background- I like that it's bold without overpowering the main subject- that's hard to do! Great job!

I have been working on different backgrounds in pastel pencils and colored pencils for some of my drawings. This looks like you did the background in marker? Such big shapes...
I have been doing tighter, smaller shapes for backgrounds, and softer since they are in colored pencil/pastel pencil. This gives me some creative energy/ideas to try some bigger shapes for backgrounds and maybe in marker, or...?

I can't wait to try some new backgrounds... I have a big series of drawings to finish (and probably pen and ink) before I am ready to add any new types of backgrounds though. I will look forward to it. Ty again, for the inspiration/ideas propelling me to try something new. I already had the idea to try all sorts of different backgrounds for my drawings, but I just really had not thought of large geometric shapes. I have been trying smaller, more soft, blended shapes and patterns, more like weave in a cloth or a wash of small shapes. How nice that we artists can motivate, inspire, light creative fires for each other!
