Heh, friggin A... We only have wild cats around here, and while they are cool, it's just not as awesome as Iguanas...

Yeah--fix them like spay or neuter them. They are a real nusance animal down here. There is a breeding population of 10,000 in Miami so you can imagine what the more rural areas are like. If they could be fixed when they are kept as pets, if they were released (like so many are when they get too big) at least they wouldn't be able to breed.
The problem with monitering them, is if they are caught they can't be re-released so you have to find a place willing to take in a bunch of large tempermental lizards...not an easy task.

Is it possible to spay/neuter an iguana? I thought reptiles and birds needed their reproductive organs to stay alive. But maybe I'm wrong...I know that birds can't be spayed...all you gotta do is keep them separated and they won't breed. Maybe the iguanas can be rounded up and spayed/neutered, or if there's too many, they might have to be humanely euthanized...sad thought, but it may be necessary...

To be honest I am really not sure if they can be or not--but I wish they could be so they didn't become such a nusance animal when they are let go...
