My submission for gemsona week. Pretty sure I'm late on it but whatevs. Been busy with school so only had time to do a quick doodle. Linework is rough and the coloring isn't too great. I decided to completely re-work my Onyx OC for Steven Universe for gemsona week. Tried once again to do it in the style of the cartoon.

After seeing the mural in the pyramid from Serious Steven, I wanted to change up her story too. It's rough, but basically I thought about making her Rose's sister (or at least best friend) and she's the one Rose is fighting in the mural. Her gem is either inside her or she's the physical embodiment of her gem, which made her a freak since she can't form an actual weapon. Her weapon is kind of more mental/magic-like. She likes to form her black gem energy into sword hands, whip-like tentacles, and short-handled scythes. Rose, who saw the good in everything and everyone, supported/believed in Onyx and was her only friend. So anyway, she gets sick of people treating her like garbage so she starts the war (that they mention in the episode) by trying to steal gems from others to gain more power. I figure maybe Rose didn't have the heart to kill her or whatever so she maybe puts her into a deep sleep or something like that, but she ends up escaping/waking up. I thought it would be cool if the reason the Crystal Gems were gathering all those monster gems and artifacts was to keep them away from Onyx so she couldn't use them to gain more power again.

She wants to be worshiped and she wants to be loved, but she's not one to beg for it. She takes what she wants and destroys whatever and whoever is in her way.
