I really love the concept of this shot; it has a very eerie...ghost-like surrealness to it. Like you don't know if they'll ever come back from where they're going.
That being said, I think it's entirely necessary for them to be blurred out, but when I look at them, I feel like they're strobing, the shadows are almost too visible. I think if you maybe faded them out a little bit more by keeping them "together" so to speak (if you see what I mean, it looks like the image of them was pulled and pieces of them were left behind, which almost suggests speed, not fading), and then a low opacity overlay of the color of the surroundings were put on top of them, to make you almost have to squint to see them, I think that would work more.
the contrast between the path and the blended gray tones in the background work so well though; really nice image overall

Its not a very edited pic, the people were simply walking off into the fog, so blurring them more I think would look unnatural. But I can understand that they would look more ghost-like.

Went to one of these places last week in Hakone. There were so many signs about poisonous gas. I didn't really want to hang around to take photos..
