Had this conversation with some friends about Emboar using Scald - really, it's only a showoff move now that you do think about it. It doesn't really gain any STAB from it, plus it can still use fire-type moves to burn and fighting-type moves to combat rock types. Well, there is ground types, but I forgot what they said about that... but yeah, pretty showoff.
I think that Emboar uses Scald by, I dunno, using water vapor around it and using its energy to heat it and concentrate it into a jet of scalding water. I dunno....
