Description The jelly fish is done in acrylic and colour pencils.... I'm really pleased how it turned out, looks great framed! It's quite big, 40cm x 90cm

It has been rewarded the 'Runner UP' at the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year 2012 competition.

Thank you very much for displaying your works. Its absolutely inspiring and humbling how good you are (most notably at realism).
I read that you utilized a digital image of your own for the template. Just curious if you ever turned to images of actual jellyfish or glass objects? Gorgeous Artwork!

well, this one was actually a glass object first, I think it used to be one of those ugly heavy glass ash trays turned upside down, before I "transformed" it into a jellyfish! Yeah, I used to draw a lot of glasses, bottles and even marbles as exercise years ago, but I haven't done it for a while now. It is a good exercise to learn how light falls through transparent objects.

Next time I try a real jelly fish, but I need to go to the aquarium and study them first, to see what's inside them and how they move. I only have a rough idea about them, but if I want a painting to look "real", every brush stroke has to be in the right place...

WOW! This is amazing...I seriously thought it was a photo for like my 1st 5mins of looking at it. The glass is so well drawn, and the subject is interesting as well-- jellyfish have an alien quality that you emphasized by making it glass.
Overall, great piece and instant .
