Psst, sneak peak: working on illustrations for a record cover and artwork for the whole album. And I am allowed to bring as many beetles, birds, skulls, shrubberies and ammonites as I like! This still life includes items of my personal natural history collection: a Goliath beetle, an ammonite from the Jurassic Coast which indicates the Fibonacci Golden Section, and the skull of a young herring seagull.

Thank you! Yes, with acrylic. In my view the best medium to work photo realistic. The background is acrylic as well, only the writing, ammonite and the skull were pencil.

Ich find vor allem den Vogelschädel interessant! Aber auch den Hintergrund mit den verschiedenen Beschfarben! Es sieht so aus als würde es auf ein altes Papierstückchen gezeichnet

Ja der Hintergrund hat am meisten Spaß gemacht! Das sind ganz viele Schichten weisses Gesso und acryl Tinte übereinander, und dann mit Sandpapier abschmirgeln, damit es alt aussieht. Natürlich weiß man nie, wie es hinterher aussehen wird und ein paar Versuche hatten dann auch Löcher, weil ich etwas zu eifrig war. Aber das hier kam echt gut raus.

Oh interessant! Das muss ich irgendwann auch mal ausprobieren, da ich ohnehin langsam wieder anfangen möchte mit Acryl zu malen.

Geht mir genauso. Ich sitze den ganzen Tag am Rechner, entweder wegen meinen Grafik Design Jobs, oder Fotobearbeitung, oder auch um meine Bilder weiter zu bearbeiten. Da tut das echt gut, mal wieder ganz klassisch den Pinsel zu schwingen!

Ich bin allerdings selbst ganz gut mit Vorlagen ausgestattet und arbeite bei solchen Aufträgen fast ausschließlich nur nach Vorlagen, die real vor mir auf dem Tisch liegen und die ich anfassen, umdrehen, und nach Wunsch beleuchten kann! Nice archaic paper look. Great shading on the skull and equally skillful rendition of the beetle. Great texture on the paper.

Thank you very much! The paper was layered with several coats of gesso, and then sanded off. This gives this beautiful "old and used" look.

Danke Dir!! Ja, ich war ziemlich beschäftigt und hatte nicht wirklich Dinge, die es wert gewesen wären, hier zu zeigen. Ich hatte die letzten paar Monate an technischen Zeichnungen für einen Industrie Katalog gearbeitet. So Jobs müssen oft leider sein, um wenigstens etwas in der Kasse zu haben.

Eine grobe Preisliste habe ich, aber Einzelheiten muss man natürlich individuell besprechen. Es kommt ja immer auf Größe, Detail, und Medium an. Im Falle einer Privatperson die ein Portrait oder Bild bestellt, kann man sich da schnell einig werden, im Falle eines industriellen Druckauftrages wird es dann schwieriger. Da kommt es dann auf die Auflage, Benutzung, etc. an. Da wird dann jede Lizenz einzeln ausgehandelt (das hat dann auch nichts mehr mit Spaß oder Kreativität zu tun, das ist dann nur noch Business...)

Ich hätte Interesse an einem privaten Auftrag, aber der wäre für mich persönlich und da muss ich mir auch erstmal über
meine Wünsche im Klaren sein und das entsprechende finanzielle Polster haben.
