Reptile zoo Serpo in Delft. It was pretty much the only place in the Netherlands I hadn't visited yet. It's in a very small building but they have a ton of rare venomous snake species, like three mambas, and quite a few different cobras and rattlesnakes. And this cute little twigsnake!

The leaves on the background a fake leaves, btw, but you can't tell because of the blur. I had to wait until he was very close to my camera!

interesting! I admire how you are able to travel so much and see so many different zoos.
I plan to visit Harderwijk soon but it is sooo expensive, especially the ticket for the train, and it will take me about 4 hours to get there

I think a ticket Harderwijk is much too expensive for what they're offering. I've only been there twice. Their Steller sea lions are VERY rare, but the public doesn't care about that. And the slogan 'the world of the sea' is kind of stupid in my opinion, since they don't even have real fish tanks. (exept for the small shark pool) But hm, I know the dolfinarium itself is still good compared to many other places, seeing the walrus in Hannover was kind of shocking, since this zoo spent millions to build some oversized kiddie farm. (I'm actually glad the walrus died)
I have the luck that I can go to all large Dutch zoos for free, since I do volunteer work. I don't even go to zoos that often (or ahem, that's compared to other people I know), but every now and then my mom and I, and some other zoo fans, take a week off and then we drive by car to mostly Germany, to visit a few zoos at once. Because we go together we can share the gasoline price, I could never afford the train tickets. There's so much to see in Germany, and it isn't all that far away, mostly within an hour and a half drive. In which part of Germany do you live?
Btw, I have a public LJ account for my zoo photos, I should update it soon again. Probably much more interesting than my DA account.

yeah well I love Harderwijk because you can see the dolphins under water and interact with them, while there is little time to do so in Duisburg and in Duisburg the dolphins are not interested in you.
Also I love the large exhibits for Walruses and other animals and I love to touch and feed the rays

I never saw the walrus at Hannover, I did not even know they had one?
What is a kiddie farm? A playground for children? I hate children- especially at the zoo. (I know most people love children and get angry at me when I say it but I mean it) They are loud and try to touch and feed the animals all the time, they bug animals, they scream, they run into you, they disturb me. And most of them can be found on the playground of a zoo. So the parents could go to a normal playground with them and they would have the same fun! arrrggghhh *lol*

you are so lucky to have a mom who is as interested in zoo as you! My parents think zoos are boring and are not as interested in animals as me. To tell the truth, they think I should care less about animals and start to be more interested in humans.

I live next to Duisburg, in Essen. So the only zoo I can visit pretty often is Duisburg.
I do not like Wuppertal very much because it is so full of hills and difficult to climb to the exhibts *g* and Wuppertal and Dortmund are still kinda old with lotsa old style exhibits with wire mesh fenses and bars instead of windows or rocks. So it is difficult to take photos there.
I like Gelsenkirchens ZOOM zoo but it is a bit far away, I need to pay lots of money to get there with a tram.

I wish there was a zoo in Essen, since my hometown is one of the largest in Nordrhein Westfalen and well-known, but they are missing a zoo and that is a pity.
