The Cephalonia Massacre, commited by German soldiers against surrendered Italians following Italy's armistice.It's even more tragic since Germany promised to protect Italy... ;_;

Well, they did betray first. Promising to fight, then run. A great shame. They deserved it. Would they run away if it was their town getting bombed? No. You need to have loyal allies, or you WILL fail.

I don't believe in blaming a whole country for its past actions or what their goverment decides.
Well, I think the reason Italy switched sides was because the Anglo-American forces invaded Sicilia in 1943, and that made the king expel Mussolini from the government. It was a betrayal on both sides, first Italy then Germany. But whatever it was, I wasn't born at the time, I'm not an expert.
In any case, it's sad, no matter whom betrayed whom.
