You know looking at this I felt like I stepped into the swamp in the Princess and the Frog. It definitely has that spooky and magical quality about it, not to mention green is my favorite color. Wonderful job creating the dim beam of light coming through the canopy and adding in that bridge to suggest there is life nearby. I think the only downside to this is how opaque the water is. It looks like solid ground covered in grass. The saturation would need toning down and if you did this digitally you could add in a water ripple texture. Although I'm pretty sure swamp waters are glassy and smooth. I don't remember exactly.

I'd say this was serene, but for the gnarled spider-knuckled roots and the atomic luminescence of the water.

Slowly reminding yourself? So, what kind of things do you have to remind yourself about for background painting?
(Totally serious question; I am learning backgrounds myself right now haha).

your backgrounds are dope, i don't know why you think they need work or that you need practice.

The greens are great for a swamp background, but my only suggestion (and I know I'm no one to talk) would be to add a little more brown and gray, if you are looking for more realism.
