Description I finished modding my Morrowind game. Unfortunately I've only got a laptop, so the thing was pretty unplayable (8fps!).

I've got a laptop too, and it works just fine for me. (It's a bit laggy at times, but it is playable.) Then again, I don't have too many mods installed. I love what you did with it.

Yeah, the mods just kill it. Vanilla, it was running (I think) at anything between about 60-200fps, but with a bit of judicious configuring of the settings I can get it up into the 12-20 range with these mods. Only trouble is it crashes every couple of minutes, so it's still really not playable. OpenMW and the Skywind project should sort that out though

I've not played Skyrim, though my brother and a friend of mine both got bored with it quite quickly. I think it says I lot that I still love Morrowind six years after I started playing it.

yeah i have the sam problem theres and old tweak guide around internet, using it i got 20fps wich is still low but playable

Yeah it's a bit hard, but I bound the shaders to a key so I could toggle them and with them off got about 17, which was still pushing it. I guess a new computer would solve that.

mmm not really i have a bad ass computer that can run on the highest quality skyrim with no fps lose (once you remove the ram restriction)and morrowind cant go up 20fps i think is because the game is old and that how it was made there are tools to improve this but i not really a great improve i think the best solution would be buying the game from steam, that version is fix.

Cheers, there were quite a few mods, but the main one is MGE XE (Morrowind Graphics Extender XE) which produces the main effect (view distance, fog, water, lighting etc) Add Animated Grass, which needs the MGE to run and is weather-dependent, so it moves properly, and then just retexture everything. Everything is on Planet Elderscrolls. Trees are from Vurt's tree packs. There are a few guides out there for rejigging Morrowind, but it's really processor heavy, especially if you start adding NPCs and things. I've got more screenies, so I could put up a couple more of the good ones if you're interested.

Sure I'll pop a couple up. Just be warned, it's a bit hit-and-miss getting everything working. The more stuff you add the less chance it'll still run.

Oh, well you should be fine then. And that is Vivec, (featuring an Egyptian-style retexture) Just a couple of specifics, if MGE crashes on loading, try running it as an administrator, and if you get "Actor has no animation class" errors when loading cells try reducing the view distance.
