Description Hi,

this is my piece for the new Artpack by Rebirth. Follow the link -> [link]

The theme of the pack is represented in the tree, which is reborn each spring to new life on an otherwise dead world. I put a lot of effort in color composition and a lot of time in the terrain (one of my mega-terrains, consisting of 4 terrains size 4096x4096).

Hit download for 1920x817 version.

Enjoy!

Fantastic scene man, realistic looking terrain, intriguing looking tree, an extraordinary planet in the background and a great star field. Props!

Thanks a lot my friend. Can't wait to see all the pieces of the pack. I was a bit hasty in submitting my piece. Should've waited. Damn.

The starfield is alittle too much for me, else than that, awesome work!

Thanks man, the starfield looks better in the original size (4096*1743). Compression really took its toll.

Thanks a lot my friend. The terrain was done in GeoControl 2. A terrain creator like world machine but with a more "what you see is what you get" approach. If you're interested, here's the link: [link]

The tree remind sme of ones we have here on earth - call Tibouchina I think, they have these furry green leaves and twice a year become amassed in rich purple flowers

This definetily has a grand sense of scale without needing it to look too foggy or atmospheric, and the gas giant looks good too, especially how there's bands of less-stretched out storm clouds in some spots

hoevelkamp In reply to Chromattix [2010-06-02 18:29:28 +0000 UTC]

I just googled that tree you were mentioning. Quite similar, you're right. Surprising, isn't it? I just wanted flowers that compliment the colors in the sky and look, nature already had them in its repertoire. I think I was a bit hasty in submitting my piece here on DA, but now it's to late to take it down again. Can't wait to see what you guys came up with.

Where to start... i'm a sucker of sci-fi. The very thought of true life other than our own is a thought taken by many.

Why is love this picture;
It's realistic.
Not to much, just a steady tree. Not glowing in green, nor any other color.
It's real because others would make the tree glow, not make it a part of the rest of the desert in the picture.

What could have been better;
Glowing flowers... something that takes a glimse to the eye. Something truly amazing.

Really nice picture mate. Amazing.

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate your comment and the critique as well. I had a first version where the foreground tree was more lit and prominent, but my fellow members of #Attrius made the suggestion to take it a notch down. Seems they were right.
