Description Hi @ all.

Wow, finally finished this one. It's inspired by the "Saga of Seven Suns" written by Kevin J. Anderson. Fantastic Space-Epic in seven books. Everybody who is into Science Fiction should read it. I'm in the middle of book three now and I can say it's a pageturner.

Thanks for the tip.

The original picture is 11100x4550 at 300 dpi. I want this critter as a poster, therefore some details got lost while downsizing it to fit in here. In the black fields are stars, nothing fancy just simple starfields without nebula or other stuff.

The Sun, Oceanworld, Gasgiant and Moon where rendered in Vue 5, textures created in Photoshop, final composition also Photoshop. Worktime: about 20 hours without rendering.

I hope you people like it.

Have fun.

Frieso

Edit: I uploaded the reworked version. Changes like described in my post.

water is the wentals, the worldtrees or verdani are earth and the fearos(misspelt i know) are fire so does that make the hydrouges wind or are they water again considering is HYDROuges

Yeah, I know it's a little confusing, but considering the Hydrogues are living in gas giants they are the wind (or air) elementals. Water in it's gas form I'd say.

Awww...There goes my idea. Anyway I particularly like the Earth planet. Although the wind one will look good as a gas giant in a space scene.

Hi Nebul. First I must say I'm sorry for answering this late. So, for the Fire I used a tutorial which can be found here: [link] I just made it way bigger and added some adjustments to it. The Wind was done by the usual techniques which can be found in many tutorials regarding gas giants. I just added some layers of distorted clouds and blended them in.

men, thats a f*@% big canvas dude hehe. That had to be a bit laggy on the system when u worked on this canvas. I like the details on the surfaces. But, i am not a fan of the background u are using. But thats a personal taste afcourse!! Anyway, bug thumbsup dude!!

Yeah, sometimes I go a bit crazy with the canvas size. Was a bit laggy but not so bad. I'm working with 2 gig RAM. Saves some time. Great that you like it (except the background). What background would you advise?

something dark, with some star clouds ect..

so that your planets get the main focus...

Hi RKGfXnl.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not in the mood for changing that picture again but I keep it in mind. Oh, and sorry for the late reply. Have been away for a while.

Thanks for all the comments and critiques. Due to some critiques on another forum I decided to rework this a bit. I made some minor and some major changes.

1. I gave the sun dome flares (Yeah, thanks Antiope)
2. I changed the border just a little bit.
3. I cut of the corners above the planets.
4. I made a new earth. (this looks more like it and it brings some more variation, wind and earth were too similar in color).

Enjoy.

Water and fire look pretty awesome, the other two are kinda mediocre. But either way it looks like it would make a nice looking poster.
