Eliadur Celelin is my PC character, a wizard apprentice, son of a Waterdhavian noble, who was apprenticed to learn magic from age 6.  At the ripe age of 14, he's past First Level, about to attain Level 2...if he lives long enough!

The ogre is trying to kill him (hence, the Shield Spell!)  The human lying dead at the boy's feet is the idiot ranger who led him into the Cloakwood to teach him some survival skills (you get the irony, right?)   Fortunately, Eliadur just bonded with a wild pseudodragon (now his familiar) and the small dragon is flying to find the boy's powerful master to rescue him!

This is the cover of one of my D&D novels.

Sigh.  It's just a ring of protection +1, NOT a power-ring!

(for some reason, there are no power-rings in D&D.)

The BOY'S name is Eliadur, NOT the ring!

Thanks for the complement on the cover.  I designed it from a scene in my novel, which in turn was based on role-playing, and hired an artist to do it up.

Neither. Eliadur is the ring.

Observe how both the orc and boy appear surprised by the glowing.

Orc: "Huh. Wasn't expecting you to floor him like that."

Kid: "I didn't think I hit him that hard..."

Eliadur: "GLORIOUS!" *glows* "YOU POSSESS THE HEART OF A WARRIOR. MY POWER IS YOURS!"

Kid: *gasp*

Orc: *alarmed* "Careful where you wave that magic!"
