Thank you! Paper Mario style is one of my main ones, even if this year I've not drawn too much in it (but I will recover lol)!
I can get why it's hard to reach, it's simple but it requires enough precision to make it well, expecially in digital! (and it's for this reason that I prefer doing it on traditional). And you can see that even if I draw often in this style, it's not accurate to the official one maybe for this reason!
And yes, I love her dress too! It was too funny drawing it, and my favourite part was the bottom! And I didn't thought to Belle's dress, but I can see the similarities!

Sure thing! And yep, I've seen you do the paper style before a couple of times! While it's not exact to the Mario style, I like it better that way! I look forward to seeing you do more of it, of course--and maybe you can pick it back up around the holidays if we have another holiday exchange event. C:

Sometimes I think that the simpler something is, the harder it actually is to replicate it perfectly. Maybe that's just because we expect more accuracy because a design is simpler? In any case, I've tried to doodle a paper style a little while back, as well, and this is what I ended up with ---> Paper doodles  
I tried with Sen and Jules in the middle, and then I just gave up and started sketching around it! I dunno--the style isn't expressive enough, so I lost interest in doing it.  But, I might try again sometime again in the future, though, especially if it's for a commission, like yours was.

I really hope to use this style again soon! (and maybe use it to present some of my characters. Actually I'm developping the coprotagonist of my Belle-Epoque inspired fiction, Geneviève, and I'm perfecting some other OCs, mostly of the Enlightement Story -expecially Giulia, which I'm not satisfied-)! And I'm glad you like better my style than the official one, though I still prefer the original, despite the simplicity! But since you made think, even my very first digital doodles (Senna, Chelise and Marianna's one) are revisitations of my Paper Mario style!

Actually I agree, more a style is simple, more is hard to imitate it decently. Though there are some people who master to copy well a specific style, but I don't think I'm one of these, I always want to put something of myself in my drawings, and I think that so do you! :"D
Though, your Paper Mario style is quite cute and lovely in these doodles (Jules' face :"D), even if  it's visible your struggle in it... I think you can do better with your realistic style, but keep trying, I think that you will improve, if you like it.

You keep teasing me with your Enlightenment story, and I'm always tempted to ask you more about it, you know. You make me curious! Well, since you're patient with me, I'm happy to return the favor.

And you're right--that's exactly what it is, honestly; we want to make our art part of ourselves too much to copy someone else's work faithfully. Mimicry is flattery, but copying it precisely is closer to theft (at least to me). But thank you, hon! Those paper doodles I did weren't close at all, and I just turned them into a newspaper comic style after a while, but I'll have the patience to figure out a paper style that I like someday!

Whoo hoo! I'm still so excited to see him! But again, no rush! I hope he wasn't a bother for you!
