I've joined a group on Instagram where you complete 3 or more small trading cards every month that you participate and send them in and then receive cards from other members. You can find details about it here: pabkins.com/blog/

June's theme was 'Yokai' (which I suggested!). This was my third card for that month, a yuki onna.

This card depicts a Yuki Onna, spirits who dwell in the cold and snow covered mountains. They are said to look like beautiful, incredibly pale women, who seem not to notice how cold it is.

Lost travelers beware these beauties waiting for them in the snow. The unlucky person may think that she will be his salvation, but it is quite the opposite. A yuki onna will usually bestow the traveler with an icy kiss, using it to steal the person's life force. It's unclear if they need this life energy to survive, since they can also eat normal food.

Some yuki onnas have a softer side though, and will help lost travelers and have even been known to marry. Alas, the marriages never last, for yuki onnas do not age, and her secret is found out eventually.
