This is my contest entry for a character background contest by . I decided to do Nuha. Since her name means 'intelligence' in Arabic, which I guess is intentional, I tried to create a story that would give her a fitting personality. Because she looks somewhat bulky and generally different from Zahara and other females, it would make sense that she came from elsewhere.

”Wait for me, guys!” Nuha shouted as she ran over the hill. She slowed down a little and took one last look at her home and her pride. She was a beautiful, strong young lioness now, and she was leaving for a lifetime adventure.

She was born in a very peaceful pride with a small yet cozy territory. The pride had just enough prey and water, and as such, they couldn’t have sustained conflicts and everyone knew their place. Nuha’s parents taught her about the circle of life and the delicate balance between all living things. She grew up to be a clever and deliberate lioness, but she started to crave some excitement in her life. Her pride’s territory being as small as it was, she decided to go with her male friends that left to try a rogue lifestyle.

Nuha roamed wild and free with her male companions for years. They met many other rogues, ran across many lands and sometimes even trespassed on other prides’ territories. At first during their adventures Nuha took quite a tomboyish role, but slowly started to look for a more peaceful style of life.

One day Nuha and her companions stumbled upon a lush, vast grassland with plenty of prey and a big waterhole. Nuha was amazed by the wealth that was before their eyes. “This is where I could stay”, she mused. They soon found the pride that occupied the territory and discovered the place was called Pride Lands. Nuha approached the great king and asked for permission to join his pride. It wasn’t much later that she said her goodbyes to her friends that continued their adventure. She stayed and planned on exploring her new homeland.
