I'm not sure if I'd be making a tutorial on these. There are patterns out there for boot spats, such as Burda #8127. They're not too hard to make.

Where'd you get your taffeta? It's mouthwatering and I'm positively hungering to use that kind of red taffeta for a specific project.

I bought it at Fabricland in Ottawa months ago. I don't know if I could find more.
I'm going there tomorrow and can look for you if you like.

I've actually worn them out and people always comment on them. I am bringing back boot spats and hats.
Have you seen my club? ->

Wonderful spats! Love the details. Do they have a strap around the instep?
I started a pair of hightop spats from a Burda pattern to wear with my kilt, but haven't finished them yet. I've also got some grey satin to make a pair of 20s style ankle spats to wear with a 3-piece suit, but I'm going to take apart a pair of falling apart, moth-eaten spats from an antique store to make a pattern for those.

I LOVE spats. I have been meaning to make some for years. Literally. I just haven't sat down and figured out how to make the pattern. Like curving over the foot and all that. I've got to make that a priority.
These are so hot. I love the cute details.

Just type up "spats pattern" on google... you're bound to find something in the image seach. That's what I did, but the pattern's not all that great.

LOLZ
it's ok. Sometimes the obvious answer is just too obvious. I google everything. I do mean EVERYTHING. I was curious about how Chameleons change colour, the other day, and googled it. Well, their explanation on Wikipedia is very precise and complicated.... So basically I've decided that chameleons change colour by magic. Nothing else, just pure magicalness.

Yay, I love spats. Have to agree with Goldenspring. I really want to make some as well now. I think you have started a craze.
They really are spats of awesomeness, its the pleated ribbon detail that really makes it.

well, free ones anyway. Here is the pattern I had originally intended on using, but I had to so alot of adjustments to it: [link]
You could always use it as a general guide, however.

I really love the knife pleats. And the whole thing is just generally awesome. I may have to steal that idea for everyday use as well as costumes >.>
