see now this one seems like it would benefit from some of those thin pen line... i really like the pose of the figure and in the large view what is happening in the dark areas are quite nice. i am not saying to do anything more to this one, but i would think about for next time.

the problem with the pen is, i think, it doesnt flow like the brush or the pencil...i ll think about it though

no it would not.. and the reason it is even there in this painting is that you were somewhere else i think. and you came to the final solution after several layers of work... that is why i say that it may be hard to repeat. because you probably don't remember all the steps and their order. this may end up being a one time thing... i know the feeling very well by the way... i don't like it necessarily but i know it.

i dont think i understand what you mean by:

i do like the one timeness, and the happy accidents, but sometimes i do wish i could undo a couple of steps or start again

what i meant is about the timeliness. i know you started that one a while ago... and you probably had a different idea in your head... and in the process of getting to where it is now it took lots of steps and it is not always easy to remember the steps.
the being somewhere else thing was more about how long ago it was. we tend to be in different places in our heads at different moments.
