Description
So my new project I alluded to in my previous upload is that I'm going to be making a squad of mercenaries to accompany Murk in his own spinoff, set prior to the main rebel setting. Just a few day later and using my (relatively) speedy new digital lineart technique and I can now formally introduce the first new character for the setting Razor, the razorback boar.
Razor is my first-ever chaotic evil character and fittingly for his name perhaps, the most edgy character I have planned for the setting. The unwanted son of a drug-addicted mother and an unknown father, Razor was likely condemned from conception to a life of violence and organised crime. Although well suited for a mobster, his use of explosives to help his organisation destroy a rival crime syndicate attracted too much police attention and he was forced to flee the country. Took up a career as a mercenary so he could continue to get paid to cause havoc and destruction.
For those unfamiliar with the Lawful/Chaotic-Good/Evil matrix, the difference between Azira (neutral evil) and Razor (chaotic evil) is that Azira has no problem doing evil if someone will pay him for it, Razor will do it even if no-one's paying because he's an asshole and just likes doing it. Mercifully, Razor's background as a mobster compels him to never disobey an order from the boss, meaning he can be fairly easily kept under control.
Thanks to all my friends who helped me out on various chat clients, either with design ideas, technical help or just listening to me ramble about my ideas. I have a few more members of this squad ready to be drawn too and I promise not all of them are going to be such unlikeable jerks as Razor is!

Haha, he's pretty arrogant. The meaning is supposed to be "Stand up and fight if you want to die, kneel down and surrender if you want to live."
I might change it if I come up with a more witty way to word it.
TBC = To Be Confirmed, I haven't decided yet.
PR = Public Relations. Letting him have his own way with deciding how to complete the mission would be insane because he'd burn a path straight to the objective and back again regardless of who or what was in the way.

Well... It's what we'd call a "double-entendre" in English. Something that can be read two ways, where one of them is often a rude joke. So I guess it sort of is that dirty joke and also sort of isn't. It took me a long time to settle on the exact words (and I'm still not 100% on them), I wanted to convey that he's a vulgar, aggressive thug, but I didn't want to make it too explicit.

Haha thanks! Yeah, what I put in the description was a cut down version of the much more detailed one I wrote, because as always, it ended up far too long
Hmm, I pretty much pulled a number out of the air. I want him to be pretty big. I'm 1.85m tall so I tend to sorta set that as "medium" when I'm thinking about height although I think I'm a few cm taller than average. Maybe I can reduce it a bit, perhaps closer to 2m. I also pretty much guessed at weight too- he has a heavy build and has a lot of muscle as well as quite a bit of fat, but I don't know if 143kgs is reasonable. He's not obese. At my heaviest, I was 98kgs, but I wasn't nearly as muscled or as fat as Razor is. I'll ask my sister actually, she's obsessed with weight and that sorta thing haha
Thanks very much indeed! I must admit, I'm clearly doing something right with this new shading style because I didn't use any photos in the background at all (other than to refer to for colour selection)! I got some new foliage brushes for the trees, but everything else was done from scratch.
I'm actually thinking I might work on Spook next. After the squad leader, he's the most experienced at strategy and planning so he'd be the de facto second in command. Additionally, being a former intelligence agent, he has a bit of training in psychology and is good at figuring out other people and what they want. Although the unit is pretty cohesive overall and all of them get on surprisingly well despite their disagreements, Spook has encountered people like Razor before and is worried by how fragile the restraints holding him back are. If anything were to happen to the leader that either removed him or weakened his authority significantly enough, Spook is fairly sure that Razor would immediately declare himself the new leader, using as much violence as needed to support his claim. Spook knows that Razor can't be allowed to lead as this would cause all hell to break loose but he's unsure if he could defuse the situation peacefully before it got to that.
Still, the pair have a friendly, professional relationship. Both accept that the other brings useful skills to the team and deep down (very deep down in Razor's case), they both recognise that the other's approach has its uses, although neither would ever admit it. As long as the status quo remains, both of them are confident to trust each other to look out for them.
