tumblr | YouTube | Instagram | ArtStationSome studies I did on water and clouds from photography for an upcoming painting!
I've always had a really hard time with these two, clouds especially and since my upcoming painting is set on a beach I wanted to do some practice beforehand. Each paintsketch took me up to and about 30 min.
This study has helped tremendously and I'd like to recommend doing something like this for anything you are uncertain about in your piece before going into it to save you some trouble!
I don't claim ownership to any of the photos used as reference.

Both!! I struggle with backgrounds and the idea of doing the studies separate as their own little pieces to help feel out the environment isn't something I had thought of before!
