Dreads are SO awesome!!
When I get the might to do it, I will dread my hair! I was only wondering one thing: is it hard? What should I take care of when having dreads? Can I still wear a helmet (I ski every year)? And swim, etc.?

Hey, I have dreads as well... I can answer you some questions. It's not hard to do it, but depending on the lenght of ur hair it will be more or less laborious... I definetely recommend you to go for the most natural way.. doing it with your hands (u can just stop washing ur hair and in some months u will have them for sure, but I don't know if u want that lol), u can find some info on the internet about how to do them.. the method is known as twist and rip. About taking care, it's pretty easy, don't wash them too often, at least at the beginning when they're starting to get the shape, after that u can do it with some soft shampoo (those for babies maybe) don't abuse the cleaning though. U can wear a helmet, try not to mistreat them, maybe u can wear a beenie or something. U can swim, try not to do it at the beginning, it's critical as you can see. I "shipped" some friends to help me do it. I was thinking of a combination of TnR and backcombing.
And I also bought Squeaky Green, from Lush (which I heard good stories about, so...!)
Actually I am getting them 28 of April! (maybe also 29 if we're slow or if it takes much time) I'm very excited about it!

I'm exited about u too!! hahaha I haven't heard about that soap, but after some research I've found some info, it seems to be a good option, however I hardly recommend u to do it the most natural way, with the TnR, I made mines with that technique and they're growing just nice! be sure u make them good.. One last thing, don't ever think on using wax, it will make the smell, and u will not be able to get back ur hair in case u regret! that's much all.. No, no I'm not going to do it most natural (patience you mean?), like I said, I think a combi of backcombing and TnR, since I heard TnR leaves the dreads sturdier and it's easier, but harder for bigger dreads. I think I'll just backcomb and use TnR for the badly done areas.
And no wax for me, I have researched everything pretty well, and I'm definitely NOT going to use wax!!

Yeaa, if it all goes as planned I'll get them next Saturday. Tough I have stopped combing for now to get a small head start (and just because I'm curious if anything will happen in such a short time. I bet not, but whatever!)
