I like it. I especially love the expression on his face. Good job.

You have great skillz. that humpty pic would be something great for a Children's book.
Also your other drawings in your gallery are very slick. If you haven't already you'd be good as an Illustrator for Books...
look out NYC publishing district!

Thank you very much, it is very encouraging to hear that. I'm working on my last semester for my BFA and want to go for a MFA in sequential art for story boarding and comics. Would you have any suggestions about where I might want to specifically look for publishing? One of my current projects is to actually get Humpty on some merchandise. I work at MOCA Cleveland, and my boss there is suggesting him for kids shirts and the like. It is a fun style to work it.

unfortunately I am not a good candidate for suggesting anything. I am working no where close to my chosen field or degree area... I got my first Associates in Commercial Art and another Associates in Computer Animation with a Certificate in Computer Graphics. In the first College i went to I drew Cartoons for the student newspaper and caught the bug big time into 2D& 3D Animation so after I got my Assoc in Commercial Art I went back for Computer Animation.
I had a job working at a local Cable Tv Station that did Public Access shows and I worked as a Cable Channel Operator I got more into Tv/Video production... I loved editing - video & audio, and my interests moved another direction....
then my Bachelors was in Video Communications (Video Production) and minor in Commercial Art (again.)
I was tired of school and rushed into the work world...
I worked about 6 years in the Publishing & Advertising, and then after two layoffs and Unemployment I took any job I got and for the last 1yr I've worked at a local Grocery Store first as a Produce Clerk and currently as a Deli Clerk... the pay is shitty and the hours are too...
I've been slowly trying to get back into Advertising or anything related... even toyed with publishing Childrens books... I wrote some kid's stories with my own style of illustrations and after 3 rejections I kind of gave up on that... it was just a weird idea to do at the time.
lately the only real Art I ever fool around with is because I get inspired by stuff I see here on DA.

Yeah, I think the key for artists is just to keep contact with other artists. or to reconnect with them. Its really the only way we have to stop from slitting our own wrists from time to time. I mean, it really depends on the person and what they need out of the community... but not being around artists can just leave you in a sea of ppl who have no idea what you yourself are pining for. The input, the collaboration, the ideas... really stimulating.
I would like to do childrens books at some point. Its one thing I have to be really planned for though. its almost like the music biz... writers wanting artists and can't pay until the book gets published can be a bit of a turn off. I'll just have to go with my instincts on any future projects if that is the case.
I think your work so far is fun that you have up here on DA. Just keep toying with it... and you'd get some really cool and fun and imaginative peices.

thanks for the comments... I never felt any of the work I put up amounted to much.
There are some good stuff I've shot or drawn I admit, but nothing I've put up, in my own feeling is as good as the stuff I've seen from most others.
DA is a way for me now to keep in touch with other Artists, get inspired, and see good art without having to goto a gallery or Museum.
I am toying too with childrens books... writing... that is... I have about 20 stories, some with accompanying art, but none are polished. the part of me that hates rejection is the part that is keeping them to myself...

fo real. Rejection sux. Pretty much have to just keep sending it places, or at the very least when its rejected, see if they'll give you feed back. Its like junk mail, you just sift through it to see if anything is really any good. Most artists are smart enough to know that you'll only get maybe one good thing that will help.
I'm all about constructive critique. Its good, and healthy. Helps the artist grow for the better. For me and/or the person being critiqued... pretty much have to suck it up and take it. the good and the bad. The great thing about DA is you can just delete the bad if you're really vain about it. Most artists fail because they aren't willing to take critique first from their peers. Thats where it starts... helps you know that you are right when talking to someone who isn't a client.
But anyway, post some of those stories, I'd like to start reading.

i've learned a lot from critics... and I never delete any negative comments... but you know I havent had too many... It sometimes feels like most people just are too polite and wont make any comment at all.
I would be failing though, because I sometimes come on too brutal when I make comments. But most of your stuff I've seen i really have fallen in love with... I love great illustration, like humpty... that is still my favorite drawing of yours that i just love...

eh, if someone can't take a brutal comment from time to time.... then they need to grow some skin. Its just a matter of either ignoring the commentator or not.
Thank you!
