The truly interesting thing is that this is a historical artifact. During the great plagues doctors really did wear such devices as these. To make it totally accurate the beak should be stuffed with spices which the doctors believed filtered out the miasma that they believe caused the plague.

Yeah, I know, it was really fascinating to read about the masks. It seems like they are suddenly a really cool and trendy design in costuming!
